Matt Peart Signing With Broncos

Free-agent offensive tackle Matt Peart is signing a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos, according to Ari Meirov of the 33rd Team. Peart was a third-round selection by the New York Giants in 2020 and has played in 43 games (seven starts) in his four-year career. The Broncos have two highly-paid tackles in Garett Bolles and Mike McGlinchey, so this is almost certainly a pure-depth signing. The Broncos could be targeting a rookie quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft, so building up an offensive line with depth is a key priority.

Matt Peart Has Torn ACL, Done For The Year

New York Giants second-year offensive tackle Matt Peart (knee) suffered a torn ACL in the Week 16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and will miss the rest of the season. Peart had been filling in as the starting right tackle for the Giants offensive line with Nate Solder on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Peart had started five of the 15 games he had appeared in this year. When Peart went down on Sunday, Korey Cunningham replaced him on the right side. The Giants also placed safety Julian Love on the COVID-19 list on Monday. Peart's injury is more bad news for a New York offense that is limping towards the finish line with two games remaining in the regular season.

Giants Continue Offensive Line Boost With Matt Peart

The New York Giants further strengthened their offensive line by selecting offensive lineman Matt Peart out of Connecticut with the 99th overall pick in the third round. Standing at 6-foot-7, Peart brings size, balance and great blocking to the Giants. It remains to be seen how big of a role the UConn product will have to start the 2020 season, considering New York already drafted an offensive lineman in Andrew Thomas at No. 4 overall in the first round.
