J.K. Dobbins Back in Full Pads Tuesday

Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins was back in full pads Tuesday as he continues working through the soft-tissue issue that cut short his Aug. 10 practice. Dobbins was already back doing individual drills the next day and practiced again Wednesday, then returned Monday during Denver's non-padded session. So this hasn't turned into a long absence. He ran for 772 yards and four touchdowns on 153 carries in 10 games last season before a foot injury sent him to injured reserve after Week 10. Denver re-signed him to a two-year deal in March, and Dobbins is still listed first on the Broncos' initial unofficial depth chart ahead of RJ Harvey. Rookie Jonah Coleman is in the mix, too, after a good start to camp. Tuesday's full-pads appearance is another good sign for Dobbins, but there still hasn't been confirmation that he's back to a completely normal workload. That's the next thing to watch.

J.K. Dobbins Practices on Monday

Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins (undisclosed) was practicing with the team at training camp on Monday, according to Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports. The Broncos held Dobbins out of last Monday's practice with an undisclosed soft-tissue injury, but he returned to individual drills on Tuesday and Wednesday before being held out of the team's preseason opener on Friday against the Atlanta Falcons. It's unclear how much he did in Monday's practice, but if he returns to team drills this week, the 27-year-old might be cleared to get some work this Friday in the second preseason game at home against the Green Bay Packers. It would not be a surprise to see the Broncos keep Dobbins out as a precaution, though, considering his lengthy injury history. The former second-rounder in 2020 from Ohio State by the Baltimore Ravens was averaging 5.0 yards per carry with 772 rushing yards and four touchdowns in his first 10 games with Denver last year before suffering a season-ending foot injury that required surgery. Dobbins has recovered from that, but in what looks like a three-headed RB committee in 2026 alongside RJ Harvey and rookie Jonah Coleman, Dobbins' fantasy football value could be capped as an RB3/flex if he stays healthy.

J.K. Dobbins Practices Again on Wednesday

Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins (undisclosed) was seen taking part in training camp practice again on Wednesday, according to Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports. There was some concern surrounding Dobbins when he left Monday's practice session with an undisclosed soft-tissue injury, but he was able to return to individual drills a day later on Tuesday. The 27-year-old's presence on the field for a second straight day likely means he's avoided any kind of serious injury, but he still might not play in the team's preseason opener on Friday against the Atlanta Falcons. Dobbins was on his way to a career year in 2025 in his first year in Denver, producing 772 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 153 carries while adding 11 receptions for 37 yards through the air in 10 games before suffering a season-ending foot injury. The former second-rounder in 2020 from Ohio State has a 5.2-yard-per-carry average in his five NFL seasons, but he's never played a full year due to injuries. Dobbins enters 2026 as a key piece of the Broncos' backfield, but it's shaping up as a committee approach that also involves second-year back RJ Harvey and rookie Jonah Coleman. The entire situation gives Dobbins a limited ceiling as an RB3/flex target with durability concerns.

J.K. Dobbins Back in Pads at Tuesday's Practice

Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins (undisclosed) is back at training camp practice on Tuesday with his pads on, according to Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports. Dobbins, who has a lengthy injury history in the NFL, was pulled from practice early on Monday with an undisclosed soft-tissue injury. It appears that the 27-year-old's injury wasn't very serious. The former second-rounder in 2020 from Ohio State was on his way to a career year last season in his first year with the Broncos before he suffered a season-ending foot injury. In 10 games played, Dobbins had 772 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 153 rushing attempts while adding 11 receptions for 37 yards as a pass-catcher. The previous year with the Los Angeles Chargers, Dobbins had a career-high 905 rushing yards and a career-high-tying nine rushing TDs in 13 games played. He has averaged 5.2 yards per carry in his five NFL seasons, but he has never played a full season due to injuries. Dobbins should be Denver's primary option on early downs in 2026 in his second year in the Mile High City, but with his injury history and a potential committee backfield with RJ Harvey and rookie Jonah Coleman, Dobbins has a low ceiling and a low floor. RotoBaller has him ranked as the No. 31 fantasy RB. UPDATE: Dobbins went through individual drills on Tuesday, per The Denver Gazette's Chris Tomasson.

J.K. Dobbins Dealing With Soft-Tissue Issue

Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins left Monday's practice because of a soft-tissue issue, head coach Sean Payton said, according to Parker Gabriel. Payton did not identify the affected area or provide a timetable for Dobbins' return. He also acknowledged concern over the number of muscle injuries Denver has dealt with during training camp and said the team added a warm-down period at the end of practice as part of its response. The update gives some clarity on why Dobbins left the field with trainers earlier Monday, but there still is not enough information to determine whether he will miss additional practice time. UPDATE: Per Aric DiLalla of the team's official website, Dobbins is expected to be fine.

J.K. Dobbins Leaves Practice With Trainers

Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins left Monday's practice with trainers, according to Zac Stevens. There was no immediate word on what prompted his departure, and the Broncos have not identified an injury or provided any additional details. Dobbins rushed for 772 yards and four touchdowns on 153 carries across 10 games last season before a foot injury required surgery and kept him out for the remainder of the year. There is currently no indication that Monday's departure is connected to that issue. Dobbins entered training camp at the front of a Denver backfield that also features RJ Harvey and rookie Jonah Coleman. Both would become more important if Dobbins is forced to miss time, but for now there is not enough information to know whether his early exit will amount to anything significant.

J.K. Dobbins Better Drafted as an RB3 in 2026

Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins (foot) was one of the league's most productive runners before his 2025 season ended after 10 games. He rushed 153 times for 772 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 5.0 yards per carry, and Denver brought him back on a two-year deal in March. Dobbins still sits at the front of the backfield, but the touches are getting harder to project. RJ Harvey is expected to see third-down work after catching 47 passes as a rookie, while fourth-round pick Jonah Coleman has been one of Denver's standouts in camp. Coleman has impressed enough that a three-back rotation now looks possible. That does not erase what Dobbins did last year, and Sean Payton has continued to speak highly of him. It does make another 15-carry-per-game pace tougher to count on. RotoBaller ranks Dobbins 84th overall in half-PPR. He can still return useful RB2 weeks if he keeps the early-down work, but the growing competition makes him better suited for an RB3 spot on fantasy rosters.

Broncos Counting on J.K. Dobbins to Replicate 2025 Performance?

The Denver Broncos are "betting that (running back) J.K. Dobbins can replicate his performance across the first 10 weeks" of the 2025 season, according to Nick Kosmider of The Athletic. Dobbins got off to a hot start to his first season with Denver, recording 772 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 153 carries across 10 games. However, he went down with a season-ending foot injury in Week 10. Dobbins has had major difficulty staying healthy to this point in his NFL career, as he's missed 36 games since the start of the 2022 season. The Broncos have younger options in their backfield in 2025 second-rounder RJ Harvey and 2026 fourth-rounder Jonah Coleman, both of whom could take on a larger role in the team's offense this season. Still, Denver re-signed Dobbins to a two-year, $16 million contract this past spring, which Kosmider writes is indicative of the team's faith that he can still be a key piece in its offense. Heading into 2026, Dobbins profiles as a boom/bust flex option in redraft leagues.

J.K. Dobbins Still Belongs on Contending Dynasty Rosters

Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins (foot) is a tough player to value in dynasty because the production is still there whenever he is. He averaged 5.0 yards per carry last season, piling up 772 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games before a torn ligament in his foot required surgery. Dobbins missed the final seven regular-season games, yet Denver still brought him back on a two-year deal. The Broncos are not handing him the backfield. RJ Harvey scored 12 times as a rookie, and fourth-round pick Jonah Coleman gives Sean Payton another physical runner. Still, Denver's own camp preview put Dobbins at the front of the room, and the rushing attack lost some of its consistency after he went down. That gives him a place on contending rosters. RotoBaller ranks Dobbins as the dynasty RB42. He is a bench piece at this stage, not someone to build around. Rebuilders have little reason to hold a 27-year-old back with this injury history. Contenders should be slower to move him. There may not be much long-term value left, but Dobbins can still help this season if his foot holds up.

J.K. Dobbins Better as Redraft Asset Than as a Dynasty Hold

Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins (foot) is easier to trust as a 2026 redraft pick than as a long-term dynasty hold. Dobbins looked good when available last season, rushing for 772 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games while averaging 5.0 yards per carry. Denver then brought him back on a two-year deal, so there is still a real early-down path in Sean Payton's offense. The problem is how much managers can actually count on. Dobbins is 27, missed the final seven regular-season games with the foot injury, and the Broncos have added real competition around him. RJ Harvey was a second-round pick in 2025, and fourth-round rookie Jonah Coleman has already been framed as part of a possible three-headed run game. RotoBaller has Dobbins priced around RB30-RB31, which is fair for the risk. He can help redraft managers and dynasty contenders, but rebuilders should sell if another manager is buying a full rebound.
