Dee Ford Questionable For 49ers Defense

San Francisco 49ers defensive end Dee Ford (neck) is listed as questionable for Week 2 against the Jets. Ford didn't practice the last two days after dealing with some neck stiffness following the season-opening loss to the Cardinals. San Francisco placed cornerback Richard Sherman on the Injured Reserve this week, so they won't be at full strength against New York. Ford had just three combined tackles in Week 1. He should be avoided in IDP leagues because of his injury, but even at less than full strength, the 49ers Defense remains a must-start fantasy defense against a Jets team that will be missing both Le'Veon Bell and Jamison Crowder.

George Kittle Ruled Out Against Jets

San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (knee) has been ruled out for Week 2 against the Jets. Kittle suffered a knee sprain in the Week 1 loss to the Cardinals and will rest up for a week. The All-Pro tight end is a must-start each and every week, but his fantasy managers will have to pivot and go in another direction in Week 2. Jordan Reed could be an intriguing name to monitor as a one-week play at the position in DFS and deeper leagues, especially with Deebo Samuel (foot) still out. In the passing game, Kendrick Bourne, Dante Pettis, rookie Brandon Aiyuk and Trent Taylor could all benefit against New York, while running back Jerick McKinnon is also worth a look in deep PPR formats.

Brandon Aiyuk Practices In Full

San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk(hamstring) practiced in full on Thursday, positioning him to make his NFL debut against the Jets in Week 2. New York's pass defense appears to be pretty shaky after one week of play, and while you very likely should not be counting on a rookie wide receiver on this team to lead you to a fantasy victory, he does become an upside play in DFS contests. If tight end George Kittle (knee) misses the game, Aiyuk's value would jump a little as well.

49ers Defense A Strong Starting Option In Week 2

The San Francisco49ers Defense struggled to contain quarterbackKyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1, but this week they face a much more favorable matchup against the New York Jets. Last week, the Jets committed two turnovers and managed just 254 total yards of offense against a tough Buffalo Bills Defense. The 0-1 49ers should be locked in for their Week 2 game, coming off a disappointing home loss. Expect them to wreak havoc on quarterbackSam Darnold and company. The Jets will also be without lead running back Le'Veon Bell (hamstring) in the game, which will make them even less effective offensively.

Kendrick Bourne A Risky Deep League Starting Option In Week 2

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Kendrick Bourne was one of only two 49ers wide receivers to catch a pass in Week 1, the other being Trent Taylor. Both Bourne and Taylor earned five targets, but Taylor caught just two of them for seven yards, while Bourne caught two for 34 yards. This week, the 49ers should see rookie receiver Brandon Aiyuk (hamstring) make his NFL debut while tight end George Kittle (knee) is currently questionable for the game. The 49ers have a very favorable matchup in Week 2 against a New York Jets Defense that was torched by the Buffalo Bills last week. Bourne should see at least five targets in the game and a potential, albeit risky, flyer as a WR3 or flex in deep leagues.
