Dre Greenlaw News
San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw (groin), who suffered a groin injury in the Week 12 win over the Minnesota Vikings, is a long shot to play in Week 13 versus the division-rival Seattle Seahawks, according to a source. Greenlaw didn't practice on Wednesday and will be monitored throughout the week. It's a tough break for Greenlaw and San Fran's D, as he was just activated from Injured Reserve prior to last week's game following core-muscle surgery. The Niners could also be missing linebackers Fred Warner (hamstring) and Marcell Harris (concussion), which could allow Seattle's offense to finally get going this weekend.
The San Francisco 49ers have activated linebacker Dre Greenlaw (groin) from Injured Reserve, and he will be eligible to play on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. Greenlaw had core-muscle surgery after getting injured in the season opener and hasn't played since. The 24-year-old will almost certainly be on a snap count if he's active against the Vikings in Week 12. But Greenlaw showed in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions that he can be a key defensive player for the Niners when healthy, as he had six combined tackles and an interception returned for a touchdown before leaving with an injury. The 49ers defense has been playing much better in recent weeks, but they'll have a tough task against Minnesota this Sunday.
The San Francisco 49ers appear likely to have defensive end Dee Ford and linebacker Dre Greenlaw back on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. This is big news for a 49ers defense that has been playing short-handed for much of the season. The return of Greenlaw should help in the 49ers run defense against Dalvin Cook, but Ford being able to play would be a big boost to a pass rush that needs to be pressure on Kirk Cousins in order to disrupt this strong Vikings offense. This doesn't put us off of Vikings players in season-long leagues, but it is important for planning ahead that this 49ers defense is getting healthy and may start to surge at the end of the season.
