Mac Jones Getting Another Go At The Rams In Week 10

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones (knee) is expected to draw his eighth start of the season in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Rams. Brock Purdy (toe) is listed as questionable after a week of limited practices, and would serve as Jones' backup if active. The last time Jones faced the Rams, he enjoyed his best game of the season, passing for 342 yards and two touchdowns with no turnovers, and did so with Ricky Pearsall (knee), Jauan Jennings (ankle, shoulder), and George Kittle out due to injury. It was an exceptional lapse for the Rams' defense, which has given up just nine passing touchdowns and has allowed only one other top-12 finish to an opposing quarterback this season. This time around, Jones will still be missing Pearsall but has Jennings and Kittle back in his arsenal. Jones projects as a mid-range QB2, making him viable in two-QB formats.

Mac Jones Gets Back On Track In Week 9

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones improved his record to 5-2 as a starter after leading the team to a 34-24 win over the New York Giants in Week 9. Jones completed all of his first 14 pass attempts and finished 19-for-24 for 235 yards and two touchdowns in the win. If and when Brock Purdy (toe) is healthy enough to resume playing, Jones will head back to the bench. Head coach Kyle Shanahan has labeled the 49ers as "Brock's team," per the AP's Josh Dubow. Whoever is under center in San Francisco's upcoming meeting with the Rams will put fantasy football managers in a tough spot. Jones diced up Los Angeles in Week 5 for 342 yards and two touchdowns, but in their three games since, the Rams have averaged 204 passing yards allowed and registered 12 sacks and two interceptions.

Mac Jones To Start In Week 9

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones (knee) has been named the team's Week 9 starter, though regular starter Brock Purdy (toe) has not yet been ruled out and may be available off the bench. Jones has already started six games in Purdy's stead, passing for 1,597 yards and eight touchdowns with a 65.9% completion rate, and throwing five interceptions. In Week 9, the Niners face the Giants, who have given up three straight top-12 finishes to opposing quarterbacks. Jones might struggle to see the same success, as he will be short on help and protection. Wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee) is still out, as is starting center Jake Brendel (hamstring). Jones projects as a low-end QB2 and should be avoided given the matchup and the lingering possibility of Purdy being healthy enough to sub in if Jones can't get the offense going.

Mac Jones Day-to-Day With Knee Contusion

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones (knee) suffered a knee contusion in the Week 8 loss to the Houston Texans and is considered day-to-day, according to David Lombardi of The San Francisco Standard. Jones' injury doesn't sound serious, but he could head back to a backup role this upcoming weekend against the New York Giants if Brock Purdy (toe) is deemed ready to return from a turf-toe injury that he aggravated back in Week 4. Jones has also played through a knee sprain this year with Purdy injured and has kept the team's offense afloat. However, the 27-year-old has underwhelmed in two straight weeks and is now up in the air to play this Sunday against the G-Men. In his six starts in 2025, Jones has completed 65.9% of his 226 pass attempts for 1,597 yards, eight touchdowns, and five interceptions. If he's forced to make another start in Week 9, he'll continue to be a low-end QB2 option in superflex fantasy leagues.

Mac Jones To Start Again On Sunday

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones (knee, oblique) will see his sixth start of the season as Brock Purdy (toe) has been ruled out once again. Jones' record improved to 4-1 after last week's win over the Atlanta Falcons, despite it being his least productive game of the season, finishing 17-for-26 with 152 yards and one interception. In Week 8, Jones will be up against the Houston Texans, who feature one of the best defenses in the league in 2025. The Texans have allowed the fewest points in the league, the second-worst collective completion percentage for opposing quarterbacks (57.8%), and just four passing touchdowns. Jones has worked his way into two top-12 finishes already this year, but with another potential defensive slog in the works, he ranks as a mid-range QB2. Jones should be kept out of starting lineups in Week 8, though he deserves consideration in two-QB and superflex formats.

Mac Jones Looking to Get San Francisco Back on Track in Week 7

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones (knee, oblique) will be under center in the Week 7 matchup versus Atlanta. With Brock Purdy (toe) still working his way back, Jones will get a chance to make amends for his two-interception showing in the recent loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. To be fair, the 27-year-old has played well enough throughout the 2025 campaign, tossing for 1,252 yards, six touchdowns, and three picks while completing 67.3% of his attempts. Unfortunately, the 49ers will be without Ricky Pearsall (knee). However, Jones will still have Christian McCaffrey, Kendrick Bourne, and Jauan Jennings in his arsenal. George Kittle (hamstring) will also make his return after being sidelined since the Week 1 win over the Seattle Seahawks. All things considered, the signal-caller may not be the safest fantasy option in single-quarterback setups against an improved Falcons defense. Still, with Sunday's contest anticipated to be one of the highest-scoring games on the Week 7 schedule, Jones can realistically be utilized by those participating in Superflex formats.

Mac Jones Dealt First Loss Of 2025

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones was handed his first loss of 2025 when the team stumbled against the Buccaneers in Week 6. Jones went 27-for-39 for 347 yards in the game, with two interceptions. It was his first start in 2025 without a touchdown, as well. Jones is now 3-1 while standing in for Brock Purdy (toe) and leads the league with 313 passing yards per game, all while missing tight end George Kittle (hamstring) and the availability of wide receivers Ricky Pearsall (knee) and Jauan Jennings (ankle, ribs) in flux. Purdy will be evaluated during the team's first practice on Wednesday as a first step in determining his availability for Week 7. If he cannot go, Jones would be under center again, this time against an Atlanta Falcons defense that has yet to allow more than 180 passing yards in a game.

Mac Jones Active for Week 6 Start Against Bucs

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones (knee, oblique) is officially active for Sunday's Week 6 contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was listed as questionable after being a limited participant in practice. There was never much doubt about Jones' status, as it was widely expected that he would earn the start on Sunday with Brock Purdy (sidelined). Indeed, Jones is active as the Niners' primary quarterback, and he even has some fantasy appeal. The former first-round pick threw for 342 yards and two touchdowns last week, and he did so without four of the 49ers' top pass catchers. Jauan Jennings has returned to the mix this week, giving Jones another weapon. He ranks as a high-end QB2 with significant streaming appeal.

Mac Jones Trending Toward Playing Vs. Tampa Bay

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones (knee, oblique) is expected to be active for his team's matchup with the hosting Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Jones has now dealt with knee and oblique injuries over the past few weeks, but will again get the start for the 49ers despite logging a week's worth of limited practices. Schefter also notes that teammate Brock Purdy (toe) has a "chance" to return in Week 7. It's excellent news for San Francisco, as the team is dealing with a mess of injuries on both sides of the ball. Reportedly, the team should also have wide receiver Jauan Jennings (ankle, rib) active, aiding Jones with Ricky Pearsall (knee) still at least a week away.

Adrian Martinez Could Start If Mac Jones Takes A Turn

As the San Francisco 49ers' only healthy quarterback, Adrian Martinez could see his first regular season snaps in the NFL on Sunday. Brock Purdy (toe) will be shelved for a fourth game thanks to his ongoing bout with turf toe, and backup Mac Jones (knee, oblique) is listed as questionable for Week 6 with injuries of his own. Jones has been playing through a knee injury suffered in the preseason and injured his oblique at the end of last Thursday's 26-23 win over the Rams. Jones is expected to play, but if he cannot go on Sunday, Martinez would draw the start against the Buccaneers. Even if that were the case, he should be avoided in fantasy contests. On top of his inexperience, the 49ers might be without their top two wide receivers as Ricky Pearsall (knee) is already listed as out and Jauan Jennings (ankle, ribs) is questionable for Week 6.
