Alex Singleton Eyeing Return in Week 13

Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton (illness) is reportedly "eyeing a return" in his team's Week 13 matchup against the Washington Commanders, per Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post. Singleton had surgery to remove a cancerous testicular tumor on the day after Denver's Week 10 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Remarkably, with the Broncos having their bye in Week 12, it appears Singleton may end up missing just one game. The 31-year-old has recorded 36 solo tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble across 10 games played this season. His return would strengthen what is already one of the NFL's best defenses from top to bottom.

Broncos Optimistic Patrick Surtain, Alex Singleton Will Return After the Bye

The Denver Broncos are optimistic that cornerback Patrick Surtain (pectoral) and linebacker Alex Singleton (illness) can return following the team's Week 12 bye, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. Surtain has been out since straining his pectoral muscle in Week 8. Singleton, meanwhile, had surgery on Nov. 7 to have a cancerous tumor removed from one of his testicles. He has received encouraging results post-surgery. Singleton isn't a lock to return for the Sunday night game on Nov. 30 against the Washington Commanders, but he's trending toward being ready as of now, according to multiple sources. An already top-tier Broncos defense would be getting some key contributors back after their bye. The Commanders will also be on bye in Week 12, but they are one of the more banged-up teams around the league and figure to be without quarterback Jayden Daniels (elbow) again.

Alex Singleton to Miss 7-8 Days With Broken Thumb

Denver Broncos inside linebacker Alex Singleton (thumb) suffered a broken thumb in training camp practice on Monday but is expected to miss only seven to eight days before he can put a club on his hand and return to the field, a source told Mike Klis of 9 News. Singleton will not need to miss any time to begin the 2025 regular season, which is great news for the Broncos defense. The 31-year-old had four straight seasons of 100-plus combined tackles before tearing his ACL in 2024 and being limited to only three games. He had a career-best 177 tackles (106 solo), two sacks, six tackles for loss, six QB hits and two fumble recoveries in 17 games played in 2023. Singleton has been fantasy relevant as a tackling machine, but outside of that there isn't much fantasy upside, and he could lose a step after coming back from a major knee injury.

Alex Singleton On Track for Training Camp

Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton (knee) is expected to be ready for training camp, according to Parker Gabriel of The Denver Post. Singleton underwent surgery on his ACL last October, but he's on track in his recovery. "I can't give specific numbers, but we have practices in a few weeks, and you guys can see for yourselves where I'm at," Singleton said. "I'm getting my helmet fitted next week. Then, the first OTAs. All these happy moments. And then training camp. I think it'll be really cool to get to do those things and get to do that." Singleton only played in three games last season, but he still amassed 31 tackles, one quarterback hit, and one interception.

Alex Singleton On Schedule To Be Ready For 2025 Season

Despite tearing his ACL in the Week 3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2024, Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton (knee) said he feels good and that he's on track for the start of the 2025 season. "It's good. I feel like I'm on schedule. It's feeling really good," Singleton said. The 31-year-old veteran posted a video in March on his Instagram of him running full speed, and since then he's taken more encouraging steps in his rehab. Fantasy managers in IDP leagues will probably want to take a wait-and-see approach on Singleton early on, but if he returns to his pre-injury form, he should at least be a streaming consideration at the linebacker position. Before the 2024 season, Singleton had four-plus 100-tackle campaigns, including a career-high 177 total tackles (106 solo) in 2023 in Denver. If he's healthy in 2025, he'll be a starting linebacker for a strong Broncos defense.

Alex Singleton Could Be Let Go This Offseason

The Denver Broncos are operating with more than $50 million in salary cap space this year and won't be forced into cost-saving moves like they were a year ago to account for the financial ramifications of releasing quarterback Russell Wilson. However, The Athletic's Nick Kosmider writes that they could still cut linebacker Alex Singleton (knee) and save $5.6 million on this year's salary cap, according to Over The Cap. The 31-year-old suffered a season-ending torn ACL early in 2024 and has no guaranteed money left on the three-year deal he signed in 2023. Singleton would also leave behind just $1.3 million in dead money if he's cut. Another salary cap casualty for Denver could be safety P.J. Locke. The Broncos would save $4.2 million against the 2025 cap if they cut him. Before getting hurt, Singleton had 31 tackles (17 solo) and an interception in just three games played.

Alex Singleton Has A Torn ACL

Denver Broncos linebacker Alex Singleton (knee) has been diagnosed with a torn ACL, meaning his 2024 campaign has come to an end after just three games. Since joining the Broncos in 2022, the 30-year-old has racked up 371 total tackles, two sacks, and one interception in 37 games. He's been one of the leaders of the defense, so this is a crushing blow for a rebuilding team led by Sean Payton. In his absence, fourth-year pro Justin Strnad figured to get more snaps in the middle of the Broncos' stop unit.

Broncos Sign Alex Singleton

The Denver Broncos signed free-agent linebacker Alex Singleton to an undisclosed deal on Friday, according to a source. Singleton led the Philadelphia Eagles in tackles each of the last two seasons -- 120 in 2020 and 137 in 2021 -- while also serving as a special teams captain. He should help improve the Broncos run defense while playing opposite Josey Jewell, who the Broncos recently re-signed. Singleton had 81 solo tackles, four tackles for loss, one interception for a touchdown, four passes defensed and a fumble recovery in 16 games (eight starts) for Philly last year. The 28-year-old went undrafted in 2019 and had only five combined tackles in his rookie season for the Eagles.
