The Carolina Panthers placed wide receiver Brandon Zylstra (hamstring) on Injured Reserve on Tuesday. Zylstra has not been a very big part of Carolina's offense through six weeks, catching all eight of his targets for 139 yards and a touchdown. He will miss at least the next three games after landing on Injured Reserve. The injury to Zylstra should open up more opportunities for both rookie wide receivers Terrace Marshall Jr. and Shi Smith. Smith, a sixth-rounder out of South Carolina, caught his first two NFL targets in the Week 6 loss to the Minnesota Vikings for 20 yards.
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Brandon Zylstra posted two receptions for 63 yards on two targets in Sunday's loss to Dallas. Zylstra has been an inconsistent contributor for Carolina this season as he last posted a catch in Week 2 when he finished with three receptions for 44 yards and a score. The 28-year-old did well in Week 4 but the fact that his role is small and he doesn't play a factor on this offense each week makes the WR irrelevant in fantasy.
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Brandon Zylstra finished with three receptions for 44 yards and a score on three targets in Sunday's win over New Orleans. The fourth-year player made his first receptions of the year on Sunday though he wasn't much of a factor last year with the Panthers as he finished with three receptions for 35 yards on four targets in 16 games played. Zylstra is not a huge part of this offense and this game was likely a random outburst given his past stats. As a result, this player should be well off the fantasy radar.
Minnesota Vikings wideout Brandon Zylstra looks like he will be on the 53-man roster, according to the Star Tribune's Ben Goessling. Zylstra was another Viking who had an impressive camp, which he culminated with a TD catch in the preseason finale. Like most of these fringe players, they have severely limited fantasy upside. Zylstra will likely only see a couple of appearances a game as he looks to be behind Adam Thielen, Stefon Diggs, Laquon Treadwell, and Kendall Wright on the depth chart. While it is a nice story for the undrafted, Minnesota-born Zylstra, he can be avoided for fantasy purposes unless an injury arises.
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Brandon Zylstra picked a good time to have his best game of the preseason. Firmly entrenched in a battle for a roster spot, Zylstra had four receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's 13-3 win over the Tennessee Titans. Obviously, stud receivers Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs take up the first two spots on the depth chart, while Laquon Treadwell has shown enough to start the season at WR3. Zylstra, the former CFL All-Star, has had a fantastic camp and will likely be the next guy on the list. Regardless, he has minuscule fantasy value unless one of the guys above him go down.
