The Indianapolis Colts released veteran wide receiver Breshad Perriman on Monday, according to a source. Perriman was trying to find a new home in Indianapolis this year after catching 20 of his 37 targets for 277 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games (three starts) the last two years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The 29-year-old former first-rounder of the Baltimore Ravens in 2015 will now look to latch on with another team before the start of the 2023 regular season. In his seven NFL seasons with the Ravens, Browns, Buccaneers and Jets, Perriman has caught 145 passes for 2,343 yards and 16 touchdowns in 80 games (25 starts).
The Indianapolis Colts signed free-agent wide receiver Breshad Perriman to an undisclosed deal on Monday and waived wide receiver Tyler Adams in a corresponding move. The signing comes after the Colts worked out Perriman on Friday. The 29-year-old pass-catcher was a first-round pick (26th overall) by the Baltimore Ravens in 2015. Perriman only lasted two years in Baltimore and has played for four different NFL teams in his seven seasons so far. In the last two years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he's caught 20 of 37 targets for 277 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games (three starts). Perriman caught nine of 19 targets in 2022 for 110 yards and a score in 11 games. He'll provide veteran big-play depth behind Michael Pittman Jr. in Indy, but playing time will likely be limited.
The Indianapolis Colts are hosting free-agent wide receiver Breshad Perriman for a visit on Friday. The organization is having discussing about signing the 29-year-old wideout. Perriman has spent the two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, he hasn't played a very big role on the team due to injuries. In fact, Perriman has totaled 20 receptions, 267 yards, and two touchdowns in 17 games over the last two seasons. Despite that, Perriman is a decent depth option for the Colts. He likely won't have a big enough role to carve out fantasy value, but he could be a nice fourth or fifth receiver.
Julio Jones, Breshad Perriman, Scotty Miller Not Expected Back
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not expected to re-sign impending free-agent wide receivers Julio Jones, Breshad Perriman or Scotty Miller, according to a source. Veterans such as running back Giovani Bernard, tight end Kyle Rudolph and safeties Logan Ryan and Keanu Neal are also not expected to return. Jones is the biggest name of the group. The seven-time Pro Bowler just finished up his 12th year in the NFL and looked close to finished while continue to battle lower-body injuries. He played in only 10 games for the second straight season and compiled only 24 catches on 43 targets for 299 yards and two touchdowns for Tampa. With Jones likely out of the picture in 2023, Russell Gage could once again become a nice sleeper pick in draft, depending on what happens with quarterback Tom Brady.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Breshad Perriman (knee, hamstring) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. Bucs wideouts Chris Godwin (hip/knee), Julio Jones (knee), and Russell Gage (ankle) were either limited or did not practice on Wednesday. Perriman could have an expanded role if any of the Bucs' receivers miss Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he is currently the fifth on the wide receiver depth chart behind Mike Evans, Godwin, Gage, and Jones. Perriman had six catches for 89 yards and a touchdown over three games in 2022.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Breshad Perriman (knee, hamstring) is officially inactive for Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons. He had been limited in practice all week long. Perriman joins skill players Julio Jones (knee) and Cameron Brate (concussion) on the inactives list. Tampa Bay will host Atlanta with a receiver corps headlined by Mike Evans, Chris Godwin (knee), and Russell Gage (back).
Julio Jones, Breshad Perriman Questionable For Week 5
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receivers Julio Jones (knee) and Breshad Perriman (hamstring, knee) are both questionable to play in Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons. Both players were limited all week, giving them a pretty good chance to play this Sunday. Jones returned for the first time since the season opener in last week's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but he caught just one of two targets for seven yards and didn't play at all in the second half after getting nicked up. The 33-year-old veteran is dealing with a partial tear of his PCL and won't be a very attractive WR4/flex if he's active behind Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Russell Gage will also be active for the Bucs.
Breshad Perriman, Scotty Miller Inactive Sunday Night
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receivers Breshad Perriman (knee) and Scotty Miller are both inactive on Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs. Perriman came into the Week 4 contest doubtful to play, while Miller will be a healthy scratch with Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Julio Jones (knee) returning to action. Tight end Kyle Rudolph will also be a healthy scratch for another game, while left tackle Donovan Smith (elbow) is active for the first time since getting injured in the season opener. Quarterback Tom Brady will have his top three receivers back for the first time since Week 1, and he'll need them to keep up with the Chiefs explosive offense.
Breshad Perriman Doubtful For Week 4 Against Kansas City
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Breshad Perriman (knee, hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Sunday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs. The 29-year-old hasn't practiced this week due to a hamstring issue. Tampa Bay could have all their wide receivers back for Week 4 as Mike Evans will return from a one-game suspension while Julio Jones (knee) and Chris Godwin (hamstring) are game-time decisions. Perriman hasn't been involved in the offense, with six catches for 89 yards and a touchdown over three games. If Perriman does suit up, he's not a recommended fantasy option in Week 4.
Chris Godwin, Breshad Perriman Absent From Thursday's Practice
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receivers Chris Godwin (hamstring) and Breshad Perriman (knee, hamstring) didn't practice Thursday. Godwin received a veteran rest day Thursday after being limited on Wednesday. The 26-year-old has been sidelined since Week 1 with a hamstring issue. His activity level on Friday will determine his chances of returning to action in Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Perriman hasn't practiced this week due to knee and hamstring injuries. The 29-year-old will have one more chance to practice Friday before the Bucs release the final injury report for Sunday Night Football.
