The Baltimore Ravens signed quarterback Brett Hundley to their practice squad on Monday after the injury to Lamar Jackson (knee) in the Week 13 win over the Denver Broncos. Jackson is dealing with a mild knee sprain, but he's likely to miss the Week 14 contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Hundley will provide the Ravens with some QB depth behind Jackson and backup Tyler Huntley, who came on in relief of Jackson in Sunday's narrow 10-9 victory. The 29-year-old Hundley was a former fifth-round pick by the Green Bay Packers in 2015 and has played in just 18 career games (nine starts) over three NFL seasons with the Packers and Arizona Cardinals. He hasn't played in a regular season game since 2019 with Arizona.
The Baltimore Ravens have signed free-agent quarterback Brett Hundley. The 28-year-old spent part of 2021 with the Indianapolis Colts, moving back and forth between the practice squad and active roster. A former fifth-round pick out of UCLA by the Green Bay Packers in 2015, Hundley eventually earned the second-string role behind starter Aaron Rodgers following some impressive preseason performances and saw the only starts of his pro career in 2017 after Rodgers went down with a broken collarbone. Over nine starts, he finished that year with 1,836 passing yards, nine touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, adding 270 yards and two additional scores on the ground. Hundley's relief of Rodgers was not enough to win him a starting job with another team. Instead, he backed up established starters in Seattle and Arizona before his stint in Indianapolis. Hundley will likely be the third-string quarterback in Baltimore, behind Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley.
Colts Release Brett Hundley, Place Tyquan Lewis On IR
The Indianapolis Colts released quarterback Brett Hundley and placed defensive end Tyquan Lewis (knee) on Injured Reserve amid a flurry of roster moves on Monday. The Colts also elevated running back Deon Jackson and safety Josh Jones to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. Rookie quarterback Sam Ehlinger will serve as Carson Wentz's backup moving forward. Lewis suffered a season-ending patellar injury in the Week 8 overtime loss to the Tennessee Titans. The former second-rounder in 2018 had 14 tackles (10 solo), three tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and one interception in his eight games (two starts) in 2021.
Quarterback Brett Hundley is heading to the Colts' active roster ahead of Monday's matchup against the Ravens. Injury concerns have swirled around starter Carson Wentz all season due to ankle ailments, although Hundley's activation is not a direct indication that Wentz's status is on the downswing. Hundley has not appeared in a regular-season game since the 2019 season when he got into three games as a reserve with the Cardinals. With Jacob Eason also in the quarterback room in Indy, there's no guarantee that Hundley has a direct path to snaps under center in '21, even with his elevation.
Brett Hundley Moves Past Jacob Eason On Depth Chart
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Brett Hundley will remain the team's backup in Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins, and he has officially moved past Jacob Eason on the QB depth chart. The Colts were considering using a combination of Hundley and Eason in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans, but Carson Wentz (ankles) ended up playing in the loss. The former Green Bay Packers backup will now be the next man up if Wentz aggravates his ankles or suffers a new injury moving forward. The 28-year-old has played in 18 games (nine starts) in his three NFL seasons and hasn't thrown a pass in a regular season game since 2019 with the Arizona Cardinals.
Indianapolis Colts practice squad quarterback Brett Hundley was elevated to the active roster ahead of Sunday's game against the Titans. When Carson Wentz (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday, Hundley took the majority of starting reps over Jacob Eason. As of now, the Colts' quarterback situation remains very much up in the air. Wentz is a game-time decision. If he does play, Hundley would likely be inactive. However, if the former Eagle is ruled out, it's unclear whether Hundley or Eason would get the nod.
Indianapolis Colts practice-squad quarterback Brett Hundley took the majority of the starter's repetitions in practice on Wednesday, and he and Jacob Eason could both see action in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans with Carson Wentz (ankles) unlikely to be able to play. There is still hope that Wentz can play, but the Colts are currently preparing as if they won't have him available. A final decision may not come until Sunday morning. Hundley has nine career NFL starts, and Eason has thrown just five career passes. It's possible they could use both QBs in the game, but head coach Frank Reich won't confirm any plans. Either way, the Colts QB situation will be one to avoid in fantasy if Wentz isn't in there, and fantasy managers will need to downgrade the Colts pass-catching options as well.
Brett Hundley Throws a Touchdown in Preseason Finale
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Brett Hundley had an up and down performance in the second half of Friday's 27-17 win over the Detroit Lions. Hundley is competing to make the Colts' final 53-man roster in order to join his third team in six seasons. The former UCLA quarterback was drafted in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers, where he went 3-6 as a starter in 2017 with nine touchdowns and 12 interceptions. On Friday, Hundley threw an interception on his first drive on a short pass to the right boundary but rebounded with a 19-play, 92-yard touchdown drive that ended with him floating a three-yard pass to running back Deon Jackson in the end zone.
The Arizona Cardinals and backup quarterback Brett Hundley agreed to an undisclosed one-year deal on Sunday. Hundley, a former fifth-round pick of the Packers back in 2015, played in parts of three games in 2019 for the Cardinals, going 5-for-11 for 49 yards without a touchdown or interception. He'll return as the backup to Kyler Murray in the desert. He's attempted 337 passes in parts of 18 games in three seasons in the NFL. Hundley is athletic and could be a decent low-end QB2 in two-QB leagues if Murray misses any time with injury in 2020.
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray will not play in the final preseason game Thursday night against the Broncos. In a news conference earlier in the week, head coach Kliff Kingsbury stated that Brett Hundley will get the start and play a minimum of one quarter. Feel free to pass over Hundley in DFS formats in Arizonas final game before the regular season.
