The Washington Football Team has waived running back Bryce Love. Love's NFL career has gotten off to a rocky start following an ACL tear in college, as he's yet to see any game action in the NFL through two seasons. There's some clear talent here with Love if he's able to come back healthy, but it's definitely worth questioning if that ever happens. The 23-year-old will end up on a roster somewhere in training camp, but it might be a long shot for him to land on an opening day roster in 2021. He's still worth a roster spot in deep dynasty leagues but can be dropped in all other formats.
Washington Football Team running back Bryce Love (knee) is returning to practice on Wednesday. Love is currently on the Injured Reserve, but he could return to the team in a few weeks and give the running back room more depth behind rookie Antonio Gibson, J.D. McKissic and Peyton Barber. The 23-year-old from Stanford missed all of his rookie season with an injury and has yet to play in 2020 because of his knee ailment. Washington still has high hopes for Love, but he's nothing more than a bench stash in deep dynasty/keeper leagues. Gibson is the back to roster in Washington, although McKissic continues to have a fantasy relevant role as well.
Washington Football Team running back Bryce Love (knee) was placed on Injured Reserve on Friday after his knee swelled up over the last few days. It sounds like Love will go on the short-term IR, however, which means he could only miss three games. This doesn't mean much for fantasy, as the 23-year-old has yet to play a game in 2020 with Antonio Gibson, J.D. McKissic and Peyton Barber all ahead of him on the depth chart. The rookie Gibson is really the only player from Washington's backfield that can be considered in starting lineups in 12-team leagues, and he'll be a low-upside RB3/flex option in a very tough Week 4 matchup with the Ravens.
The Washington Football Team running back Bryce Love is a healthy inactive for Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles. The team will go with rookie Antonio Gibson and veterans J.D. McKissic and Peyton Barber as their only running backs. Gibson was projected to lead the backfield in touches this week even before this news came out, so he gets a slight boost from the absence of Love. McKissic and Barber, meanwhile are risky dart throws in deep leagues, with McKissic being slightly more intriguing in PPR and Barber more intriguing in non-PPR. Both should see around five touches.
Washington Football Team running back Bryce Love made the 53-man roster and will compete for carries in a backfield that also features rookie Antonio Gibson and veteran passing-downs back J.D. McKissic. Love missed all of 2019 with injuries but was a standout running back at Stanford and could find himself as the starting running back at some point during the season. He's worth a late-round flier in deeper leagues as he may wind up getting a solid amount of weekly touches to warrant value in fantasy.
Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said that rookie running back Bryce Love (knee) will open the year on the Physically Unable to Perform list. It's shaping up to be a "redshirt year" for Love, whose senior season at Stanford ended with a torn ACL. There's upside in Love down the road in future seasons, but he'll also have to contend with Derrius Guice in Washington's backfield. As it stands now, Guice, Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson figure to split the touches in this dysfunctional offense in 2019. Love is strictly a dynasty league hold.
Bryce Love Unlikely To Be Ready For Start Of Season
Washington Redskins rookie running back Bryce Love (knee) isn't expected to be ready to play at the start of the NFL season. Love put up decent numbers at Stanford after replacing Christian McCaffrey, but he never lived up to some of the early hype about his college career, and he enters the NFL in an unsettled Washington backfield that has veteran Adrian Peterson, second-year back Derrius Guice -- who missed all of last year with a knee injury -- and receiving back Chris Thompson. Love shouldn't be on your re-draft radar at this point, as any production he has in 2019 is likely to come in limited quantities in the latter stages of the season.
Redskins Draft Bryce Love As Derrius Guice Insurance
The Washington Redskins drafted Stanford running back Bryce Love in the fourth round on Saturday. He was a Heisman Trophy finalist two years ago but suffered an ACL tear in 2018 and could begin his rookie season on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Derrius Guice was drafted in the second round in 2018 and missed all of the season with a torn ACL of his own. Washington also has veteran Adrian Peterson, Chris Thompson, Samaje Perine and Byron Marshall. Love could be a natural replacement for Thompson in 2020. Guice was ahead of schedule in his offseason recovery, but he might now be a question mark for training camp. Love won't have redraft appeal in 2019, and Guice's status being in doubt makes him a risky option as well.
Washington Redskins running back Bryce Love (knee), who was drafted in the fourth round on Saturday, is hoping to be ready to return around mid-training camp after tearing the ACL in his knee last season. Love said he's been running on a treadmill and doing impact drills. He'll eventually compete with Derrius Guice, who tore his ACL in the preseason of his rookie year. With Adrian Peterson, Chris Thompson, Guice and Samaje Perine all on the roster, it'd be a shock if Love produced anything in his rookie season while rehabbing his knee injury.
