The Washington Football Team claimed tight end Caleb Wilson off waivers from the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Wilson was the last pick in the 2019 NFL Draft out of UCLA, where he finished with 114 receptions, 1,675 receiving yards, and five total touchdowns in his three collegiate seasons. He was active for just five games last season, getting all of his action on special teams. With Temarrick Hemingway in concussion protocol, this move seems to be purely for depth at the tight end position. John Bates, Ricky Seals-Jones, and Sammis Reyes make up the rest of the tight end room behind starter Logan Thomas, none of which will have any fantasy value unless Thomas misses some time.
Arizona Cardinals tight end Caleb Wilson, a former college quarterback, is attempting to make the 53-man roster this summer. He has impressed the coaching staff with his work habits and skillset. "He has great route-running ability, great hands and I'm so interested to see, once we get pads on, where that goes," head coach Kliff Kingsbury said. Wilson has an uphill climb for a roster spot, however, as the Cardinals tight end room is littered with talent. Charles Clay, Ricky Seals-Jones and Maxx Williams are also vying for jobs in Arizona. However, Wilson's speed, clocked at 4.56 in the 40-yard dash, could set him apart in Kingsbury's spread offense.
