The Las Vegas Raiders have agreed to a deal with free-agent wide receiver Cam Sims. It's assumed the deal is a one-year contract, but the salary hasn't been announced yet. The 27-year-old has spent all five of his professional seasons with the Washington Commanders. He has recorded 57 catches for 804 yards and three touchdowns in 55 games. He's expected to compete for a reserve role behind Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers, and Hunter Renfrow.
Washington Commanders wide receiver Cam Sims (concussion) will play on Sunday against Jacksonville. The 26-year-old suffered a concussion during the preseason and spent some time in protocol. With that said, Sims isn't expected to play a substantial role in the offense this season and should remain behind Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson on the depth chart. However, if either of those guys goes down with an injury, Sims may earn more looks from Carson Wentz. In the meantime, fantasy managers shouldn't get too excited by the latest update.
Cam Sims Enters Concussion Protocol, Likely Out Saturday
Washington Commanders wide receiver Cam Sims (concussion) has been entered into the league's concussion protocol, per Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post. Head coach Ron Rivera expressed doubt that Sims would be cleared in time to suit up for Saturday's preseason finale against Baltimore. Sims hauled in two catches for 23 yards and a touchdown last week for the Commanders, marking the team's lone aerial score during the preseason. Sims faces a muddled path to consistent targets come the regular season with Jahan Dotson likely to earn a significant role in his rookie campaign and Curtis Samuel healthy entering the year. The next best chance for Sims to suit up comes Week 1 of the regular season vs. Jacksonville on Sept. 11.
The Washington Commanders re-signed wide receiver Cam Sims to a two-year, $3 million contract. He caught 15 passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns over 10 games in 2021. The Alabama product will be entering his fifth year in Washington and provide wide receiver depth for the Commanders. The 26-year-old will have a role on special teams and is expected to serve as the team's WR4 behind Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel, and Dyami Brown. Sims is not on the fantasy radar in 2022 and is mainly an option in very deep-league formats.
The Washington Football Team activated wide receiver Cam Sims and defensive end Daniel Wise from the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Sunday. It's good news for a Washington team decimated by COVID this week, but as NFL Network's Ian Rapoport points out, quarterbacks Taylor Heinicke and Kyle Allen remain on the COVID list. If neither one of them can return a negative test before Tuesday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles, recently signed Garrett Gilbert will be forced to start under center. Even with Curtis Samuel (hamstring) unlikely to play this week, Sims will have a very small role in the passing game behind Terry McLaurin, Adam Humphries, DeAndre Carter and rookie Dyami Brown. Sims scored his second touchdown of the year last week, but he should be avoided for fantasy lineups.
Washington Football Team wide receiver Cam Sims led the team in receiving yards as he caught three passes for 69 yards and a score. He caught a 43-yard touchdown and was the lone bright spot in the Washington offense that struggled to do much of anything on Sunday. Sims was impressive, but he shouldn't be relied on going forward as Curtis Samuel figures to have an increased role in the offense as he gets more comfortable after his recent return to action. If Terry McLaurin (concussion) misses any time, Sims could have an increased role, but he would still not be a reliable option for fantasy managers.
Washington Football Team wide receiver Cam Sims (hamstring), who has already been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Saints, is expected to miss an additional one-to-two weeks, per Ben Standig of The Athletic. Essentially, he'll be assessed on a week-to-week basis. In addition to Sims, Washington is without rookie Dynami Brown (knee) while Curtis Samuel (groin) is questionable. As a result, Antonio Gandy-Golden was called up from the practice squad.
Washington Football Team wide receiver Cam Sims could be in line for some more playing time as the season progresses, according to head coach Ron Rivera. "We've got to get him on the field a little more. The coaches have talked about that," Rivera said. With Curtis Samuel out, there could be a significant role for Sims to play in the offense, but not significant enough to warrant a spot on any fantasy rosters just yet. Dyami Brown has been impressive so far, and Adam Humphries has been a favorite target of quarterback Taylor Heinicke. Sims could be a player to keep an eye on in deeper leagues, but it would be best to wait and see how much playing time the 25-year-old will get in the coming weeks.
The Washington Football Team re-signed restricted free-agent wide receiver Cam Sims on Wednesday. Washington put the right-of-first-refusal tender on Sims on March 16, which is worth $2.133 million for the 2021 season. He played for $675,000 last year. Sims had just two catches for 27 yards in his first two NFL seasons, and he had three catches for 39 yards while playing 16 offensive snaps six games into his third season. But he started to see more playing time after that in 2020 and started the final 10 games of the season and Washington's playoff game. The 25-year-old finished with 32 catches for 477 yards and a touchdown and finished second to Terry McLaurin in catches and receiving yards. Sims showed he can produce last season, but it's unclear how big of a role he'll have behind McLaurin and Curtis Samuel in 2021.
Cam Sims Leads Washington In Receiving Versus Bucs
Washington Football Team wide receiver Cam Sims led Washington with seven catches for 104 yards in a loss to the Buccaneers in the wild-card round. Sims was targeted a season-high 13 times by Taylor Heinicke who started for Alex Smith (calf). Sims certainly made a name for himself on the playoff stage, but the 100-yard performance was just his second of the season. Sims primarily runs downfield routes so he's a boom-or-bust option in fantasy with a 14.9 yards-per-catch average and only one touchdown. Washington will certainly address their receiving depth this offseason so making Sims only a deep-league option in non-PPR formats.
