Casey Hayward Released By Falcons

Atlanta Falcons defensive back Casey Hayward has been released by the organization on Friday. He originally signed a two-year, $11 million deal with the Falcons last offseason. He played the first six games of the season before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury. Since then, the Falcons have upgraded at defensive back with Mike Hughes and Jeff Okudah. That being said, they didn't have much of a reason to hang onto Heyward for the final year of his contract. This move saves the team $5 million against the cap, but results in $2 million in dead cap. The two-time Pro Bowl corner should be able to find another team before the season begins.

Falcons Signing Casey Hayward To Two-Year Deal

The Atlanta Falcons are signing free-agent cornerback Casey Hayward to a two-year, $11 million contract on Thursday, according to a source. Hayward will give the Falcons some key depth in their secondary. He played last season with the Las Vegas Raiders, securing 46 tackles (39 solo), three tackles for loss, one safety, one interception and nine passes defensed in 17 starts. Hayward began his career with four seasons for the Green Bay Packers before joining the Los Angeles Chargers for five years, where he was named to two Pro Bowls. The 32-year-old is a solid cover man that has missed only two games since 2013.

Casey Hayward Joins Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders signed free-agent cornerback Casey Hayward to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday. The 31-year-old, a second-round pick by the Green Bay Packers in 2012, will join cornerbacks Trayvon Mullen (taken in the second round in 2019), Damon Arnette (a first-rounder in 2020), Amik Robertson (fourth-rounder in 2020) and Nate Hobbs (fifth-rounder this year). Hayward will reunite with defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, who was his coordinator the last four years with the Los Angeles Chargers. He didn't play in a full season last year for the first time since 2013, recording an interception and eight passes defensed in 14 games (13 starts). Hayward had 66 passes defensed, which led the AFC, in his five years with the Chargers. He also led the NFL with seven interceptions in 2016 and made the Pro Bowl in 2016 and 2017.

Casey Hayward, Melvin Ingram Out For Chargers Defense

The Los Angeles Chargers have ruled out cornerback Casey Hayward (groin) and defensive end Melvin Ingram (knee) for Week 12 against the Bills. Ingram has already spent time on Injured Reserve for a knee injury, so this is more bad news for the 31-year-old pass-rusher from South Carolina. He's totaled just 10 tackles, four QB hits and one interception in his seven games played this season. The Chargers secondary will be extra vulnerable without Hayward out there on Sunday, giving more upside to both Bills QB Josh Allen and top wide receiver Stefon Diggs. The Los Angeles defense should be faded this week in DFS and season-long leagues with both Ingram and Hayward out.

Casey Hayward Snags First Interception Of 2019

Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Casey Hayward was able to land his first interception of the season on Sunday as he snatched a deep pass to end Detroit's first offensive possession of the second half. The good news was that the defense held the Lions to just 13 points, but there were some serious struggles. Detroit was without their starting left tackle, but LA recorded just one QB knockdown all game and was held without a sack. They also lost safety Adrian Phillips to what is believed to be a broken forearm, adding another injury to the ever-growing pile. The Chargers will need to seriously improve their pressure if they expect to beat teams with better offenses than the Lions.

Chargers Signing Casey Hayward To Extension

The Los Angeles Chargers are signing cornerback Casey Hayward to a three-year extension worth $36 million, according to a source. Hayward will receive $20 million fully guaranteed when he officially signs the deal. This extension is justified, as Hayward has become an All Pro each of the last two seasons with the Bolts, and he's racked up 11 interceptions in the last two seasons. The 28-year-old has developed into one of the best cover corners in the NFL and makes up one of the deepest and most talented secondaries in the league.

Casey Hayward In Line For Extension?

Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Casey Hayward will make $4.25 million in 2018 in the final year of a three-year deal, and the Chargers could consider offering him a contract extension after he finished with four interceptions and was second in the league with 26 pass breakups while earning his second Pro Bowl invite. He was also voted to the second-team All Pro team and has become an elite cornerback in the NFL. The Bolts secondary was their strength on defense, and Hayward was the biggest reason why. The Chargers would be wise to keep him around for years to come.

Casey Hayward Limited In Practice

The Los Angeles Chargers defense has been one of the best in the league this season, and cornerback Casey Hayward (knee) is one of the main reasons. Unfortunately, Hayward has been limited in practice this week due to a knee injury. He's still expected to play against Washington, but obviously a knee injury is always a concern, especially for a defensive back. Hopefully, the monster combo of Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram can still buy him plenty of time out there to help LA deal Washington their fourth loss in five games.
