Chad Henne Retires From NFL

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Chad Henne has announced his retirement from the NFL. The 37-year-old will go out on top as a Super Bowl champion. He spent the last five seasons as the backup to Patrick Mahomes in Kansas City. Before that, Henne served as the starter for the Miami Dolphins from 2009-13. Although, Henne ended up with more interceptions than touchdowns during his time as a starter. After that, Henne became a backup and wasn't really seen from 2016 until now. He helped the Chiefs secure a playoff victory over the Cleveland Browns in 2020. That is probably the moment Kansas City fans will remember from Henne's tenure with the organization.

Chiefs Bring Back Chad Henne

The Kansas City Chiefs are re-signing quarterback Chad Henne to a one-year, $2 million deal on Wednesday, according to a source. It will be Henne's fifth season serving as Patrick Mahomes' backup in Kansas City. The 36-year-old has made just one start for the Chiefs and has seen action in parts of eight games in the last four seasons. The veteran signal-caller hasn't had multiple starts in a season since back in 2014 with the Jacksonville Jaguars, when he made three starts. In his time with the Chiefs, Henne has gone 41-for-57 for 359 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. The experience is nice (12 NFL seasons for three different teams), but the Chiefs offense would be in trouble if Henne is forced into action for any stretch of time.

Chad Henne Expected To Backup Patrick Mahomes

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Chad Henne is expected to remain the backup quarterback for the third straight season behind Patrick Mahomes. Henne will be entering his 12th season and his 38 pass attempts in garbage time last year were the most that he has thrown since 2014, when he threw 72 passes. Henne's experience and knowledge of the Chiefs system should secure him the backup gig, but managers should be worried with all of their Chiefs players if Henne has to start games. Henne will be competing with Jordan Ta'amu, Shane Buechele and Anthony Gordon for the No. 2 spot, but it would be an upset if he didn't win the gig.

Chad Henne Passes For 66 Yards

Kansas City Chiefs backup quarterback completed six of his eight passes for 66 yards after replacing Patrick Mahomes (concussion) in an AFC Divisional Round victory against the Cleveland Browns. The veteran also rushed for 12 yards on two carries. Henne put together and admirable performance on Sunday, but the Chiefs are hoping to have Mahomes back against the Buffalo Bills for the AFC Championship. If Henne were to start next week, all of the Chiefs position players would take a hit on their value. Henne should be avoided by all managers if he starts next weekend.

Chad Henne Wins Backup Job

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Chad Henne has officially locked up the backup duties to Patrick Mahomes, with Matt Moore an option for one of the newly created veteran spots on the practice squad. Jordan Ta'amu is the other QB on KC's current roster. Henne will again hold the clipboard for the best quarterback in the NFL. The 35-year-old veteran didn't see the field at all in 2019 and has attempted just five passes for the Chiefs and Jaguars since 2016. If Mahomes were to go down due to injury for an extended period of time, Kansas City's offense could be in a world of hurt.

Chiefs Re-Sign Chad Henne

The Kansas City Chiefs re-signed quarterback Chad Henne to an undisclosed two-year deal on Monday, according to sources. The 34-year-old veteran will continue to back up stud Patrick Mahomes. There's nothing to see here from a fantasy perspective, as Henne has played in parts of seven games since 2014. He did not see the field at all in 2019 when Mahomes missed some time due to a knee injury.

Chiefs Have Interest In Re-Signing Chad Henne

The Kansas City Chiefs have shown interest in re-signing backup quarterback Chad Henne, according to a source. Henne, who will turn 35 this summer, has appeared in just seven games with the Jaguars and Chiefs since the 2014 season. He completed two of three passes in one game for the Chiefs in 2018 and didn't see the field at all behind Patrick Mahomes in 2019. He brings veteran depth behind one of the best quarterbacks in the game, but he's well off the fantasy map for obvious reasons.

Chiefs Activate Chad Henne From Injured Reserve

The Kansas City Chiefs activated quarterback Chad Henne (ankle) from the Injured Reserve on Saturday, which is another indication that Patrick Mahomes (knee) will miss another week. The Chiefs will work Henne out before the game against the Vikings to see if he'll be active as Matt Moore's backup. With Mahomes on track to return in Week 10 against the Titans, Henne is really nothing more than QB depth for Kansas City. He's unlikely to make any starts the rest of the year.

Chad Henne Making Progress

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Chad Henne (ankle), who broke his ankle in training camp, is "getting close," according to head coach Andy Reid. "Hes getting there. Hes been working his tail off. I havent taken him out there and thrown with him and done all that so I cant tell you how all that is gone," Reid said. Patrick Mahomes (knee) is expected to miss at least three weeks with a dislocated kneecap, so Henne could become an option to start games in the near future if Matt Moore isn't getting the job done. Even with options around them in the offense, neither Moore nor Henne would be much more than desperation options in two-QB leagues.

Chad Henne Suffers Broken Ankle

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Chad Henne (ankle) will undergo surgery for a broken ankle on Tuesday. Henne was injured in the preseason game against the 49ers on Saturday and will obviously miss a big chunk of time. As a result, the Chiefs signed veteran Matt Moore to be Patrick Mahomes backup to begin the season. Henne would've only had limited fantasy appeal if anything were to happen to Mahomes.
