Patrick Mahomes News
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (toe) underwent surgery to fix his turf-toe injury on Feb. 10. With a three-month recovery period expected, the Chiefs think that Mahomes will be ready for training camp this summer, and he could be good to go by mandatory minicamp, according to general manager Brett Veach. The 25-year-old was slowed a bit by the toe injury in the postseason, but it's not expected to affect him moving forward after surgery. Mahomes is an elite player at his position and is a perennial Pro Bowler and MVP candidate after making back-to-back trips to the Super Bowl. He had 4,740 passing yards, 38 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 2020 while also adding 62 carries for 308 yards and two TDs on the ground. Mahomes will once again be in consideration as the first fantasy signal-caller off the board in 2021.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (toe) will have surgery on Wednesday to fix a torn plantar plate in his foot, which is also known as turf toe, according to a source. The rehab will be for several months, but Mahomes is expected to make a full recovery. Noted foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson will perform the surgery. While Mahomes played through the injury in the playoffs, it was a significant ailment and it was clear that he was not 100 percent when he tried to tuck the ball and run. The 25-year-old former MVP will be fully ready for training camp and the 2021 season. His battered offensive line didn't give him much of a chance in the Super Bowl loss to the Buccaneers, but Mahomes will be motivated to put that performance past him next season. Mahomes is still the best quarterback in the NFL from a pure athleticism standpoint and should be the first signal-caller selected in fantasy drafts this fall.
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes struggled mightily in the teams Super Bowl 55 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Mahomes failed to throw a touchdown on the evening for the first time in his career and it was also the first time in his career that he lost to an opposing team by double digit points. Mahomes was only 20-for-40 for 212 yards and two interceptions. He also rushed the ball five times for 33 yards. Mahomes was chased all night by a tough Bucs defense and playing behind a banged upoffensive line didn't help the former MVP. Mahomes may have had a dismal night, but he remains one of the best at his position and will be one of the top options for fantasy managers heading into next year.
