The Kansas City Chiefs have re-signed linebacker Nick Bolton to a three-year, $45 million deal with $30 million fully guaranteed at signing. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the news. Bolton was selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft and has led the Chiefs' defense in tackles in three of four seasons, including a whopping 180 total takedowns in 2022. The 24-year-old, who turns 25 on Monday, was an integral part of a Kansas City defense that ranked sixth in points per game (20.5) and 10th in yards allowed per contest (328.2) in 2024. He'll now anchor the Chiefs' front seven for at least the next three seasons and should continue to rack up tackles at an impressive pace.
Impending free-agent middle linebacker Nick Bolton indicated that he'd like to re-sign with the Kansas City Chiefs after the team's 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in Super Bowl LIX. "But I've been here (in Missouri) for seven years it feels like home. Welcomed me with open arms as a little 18-year-old with short hair, no facial hair. Let me go through growing pains and find out my own identity, and it feels like home," Bolton said. As these things always do, it will come down to money and whether Bolton is looking to become one of the highest-paid linebackers in the league. The former second-rounder has won two Super Bowl rings in his four seasons with KC while also racking up 458 total tackles (32 for loss), five sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery TD, 15 pass breakups and four interceptions during the regular season. The 24-year-old has been a big reason for the Chiefs' success on defense.
Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton (wrist) has been activated from Injured Reserve ahead of Sunday's Week 14 contest against the Buffalo Bills. Bolton has been snake bit with injuries this season, missing three games with an ankle injury and another five contests with the aforementioned wrist issue. His return should provide a solid boost to the KC defense during Sunday's crucial matchup against Buffalo. Safety Bryan Cook was placed on injured reserve in a corresponding move.
Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton (wrist) is scheduled to undergo surgery on Tuesday to repair his wrist injury, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The surgery is not expected to be season-ending, but the expectation is that he will be sidelined for about two months. That said, he could return around Week 15 to 17. However, the Chiefs might opt to wait until the NFL playoffs begin to activate him. It's a tough loss for IDP league fantasy managers. Last season, he ranked third in total fantasy points among IDP-eligible players.
