Chris Hubbard News
Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Chris Hubbard (triceps) is expected to have season-ending surgery on his triceps, according to sources. Hubbard suffered the injury in the season-opening loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and hadn't played since. The good news for the Browns offensive line is that left tackle Jedrick Wills (ankle), who is questionable to face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 5, has a chance to play on Sunday. Even if Wills is active this weekend, Chargers pass-rusher Joey Bosa, who has 2.5 sacks, nine tackles, two forced fumbles and 23 pressures, could have a big game against Cleveland and quarterback Baker Mayfield. Mayfield has been sacked 12 times through four games in 2021.
The Cleveland Browns are placing offensive lineman Chris Hubbard on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Friday. The Browns shut down their facility on Friday out of an abundance of caution due to Hubbard's positive coronavirus test, but thankfully he did not have any high-risk close contacts. That's excellent news if you own any of the team's fantasy skill players on offense that you planned to start this weekend against the Texans. The game should go on as scheduled this Sunday. Running back Nick Chubb (knee) has been practicing this week and is hopeful of making his return after being out since Week 4. He's a must-start RB1 if he's active.
The Cleveland Browns strengthened their offensive line on Tuesday by signing Chris Hubbard away from the rival Pittsburgh Steelers. Hubbard is able to play multiple positions across the offensive line, but he's expected to take over for Shon Coleman at right tackle in 2018. Hubbard will be quite the upgrade over Coleman, who struggled mightily in 2017. Cleveland gave Hubbard a five-year, $37.5 million contract to convince him to leave Pittsburgh. Hubbard could also serve as insurance in case All-Pro left tackle Joe Thomas decides to retire this offseason.
