The Arizona Cardinals signed free-agent wide receiver Christian Blake to an undisclosed deal on Monday. The team also signed undrafted free-agent quarterback Jarrett Guarantano, a big-armed QB from Washington State. Blake spent the last three years with the Atlanta Falcons, catching 28 passes for 257 yards in 41 games. Arizona also signed safety Tae Daley, offensive lineman Greg Long, running back T.J. Pledger and wide receiver Jared Smart. Blake will give the Cardinals a little more receiver depth with DeAndre Hopkins suspended for the first six games of the season, but he won't have any real fantasy value behind the likes of A.J. Green, Marquise Brown, Rondale Moore, Antoine Wesley and Andy Isabella.
Christian Blake Comes Through With 57 Yards On Thanksgiving
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Christian Blake stepped up for the team in a big way on Thanksgiving against the Saints. After catching only four passes all year coming into the game, Blake wound up with six catches for 57 yards on nine targets in Week 13. He tied with Russell Gage for second on the team in targets behind Calvin Ridley, who had 10. The team was without Julio Jones (shoulder) and Austin Hooper (back) in the game, which provided Blake for the opportunity to step up. Blake is worth watching if Jones and Hooper remain out, but both could be back next week as they have a long week of rest to recover.
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Christian Blake caught five passes for 46 yards during the loss to the Denver Broncos on Thursday. The 23-year-old led all receivers on the night and was more productive than rookie camp-standout Olamide Zaccheaus, who finished with two catches (six targets) for 31 yards. He won't have any fantasy impact at the moment as he would be slotted behind Julio Jones, Mohamed Sanu, and Calvin Ridley at best, but he is someone to watch if he makes the final cut and any one of those three goes down with an injury at some point this season.
