Colin Kaepernick on the season has 2,197 yards from scrimmage and has scored 14 total touchdowns in nine starts. The 49ers are winless in all of his starts this season, and Kaepernick has completed only 55.5% of his passes. The soon-to-be free agent will play a Rams defense that has basically given up all hope on the season. In the past five weeks, the Rams defense has allowed 13 touchdowns and only two interceptions to opposing quarterbacks, giving Kaepernick a favorable matchup. It's a tough sell starting Kaepernick in a fantasy championship situation, but he could provide some value in daily leagues for Week 16.
Kaepernick comes into the Week 13 action as one of the hottest fantasy quarterbacks in football. In the last four weeks, he has scored the second most fantasy points among quarterbacks. In six games played, he now has 1,813 all purpose yards and 11 total touchdowns. His completion percentage will never be something that will be among the league's elite but he is averaging 53.5 rushing yards a game and has thrown six touchdowns in his last three games. He will play a Bears defense that is severely depleted by injuries at every level of their defense. Kaepernick is an excellent play in Week 13.
Colin Kaepernick and Blaine Gabbert Continue to Fight For Starting Job, Neither on the Fantasy Radar Yet
Colin Kaepernick completed 8 of 11 passes in Tuesday's team session while Blaine Gabbert went 10 for 12. While Gabbert was slightly more efficient during the team session he was unable to find the end zone during the seven-on-seven red zone drill earlier in the day, mostly completing short passes. Kaepernick was able to find the end zone twice during the same drill completing two TD passes to Jerome Simpson. Should Kaepernick win the starting job he would provide some value in very deep (16-team or more) leagues due to his running ability – he averages 32.1 rushing yards per game in his career. However after a down year in 2015 where he lost the starting job after Week 8, Kaepernick is not worth drafting. Gabbert had the best year of his career last year after taking the reins in Week 9, finishing the season with 10 TD in eight games and a passer rating of 86.2. If named the starter Gabbert could be a bye week fill-in at QB or even a surprise starter by season's end.
