The Kansas City Chiefs acquired tight end Daniel Brown from the New York Jets on Tuesday in exchange for offensive guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, according to sources. The NFL trade deadline came and went on Tuesday without any significant movement across the league. Brown didn't see a single target in seven games for the Jets this year behind Ryan Griffin and Tyler Kroft and played just 13 total offensive snaps on the season. In his new home in Kansas City, he'll be providing depth behind Travis Kelce alongside Blake Bell and rookie Noah Gray. So far in his eight years in the NFL, Brown has 44 receptions on 64 targets for 420 yards and two touchdowns with the Bears, Jets and Ravens.
New York Jets tight end Daniel Brown isn't going anywhere and is back with the organization. The veteran tight end has snagged a practice squad spot to begin the season. Brown has spent each of the last two seasons as a member of the Jets. He has 44 catches, 420 yards and 2 TDs in 74 games over six seasons in the NFL. The 29-year-old is mainly depth and that's exactly what he'll be with the Jets this season. However, the Jets are so shallow in terms of tight end depth that Brown might get a chance to play. Regardless, Brown isn't going to do anything on the field worth rostering in any fantasy formats.
New York Jets tight end Daniel Brown caught three of four targets for 32 yards in a win over the Bills Sunday. This was the most targets and catches Brown had in any game this season playing in place of the injured Chris Herndon (hamstring) and Ryan Griffin (ankle). Brown hasn't shown enough to be regarded as a starting tight end in the NFL and won't carry fantasy value going into the 2020 draft season.
New York Jets tight ends Daniel Brown and Trevon Wesco will likely split snaps again this Sunday versus Pittsburgh, with Brown the one likely to see more work in the passing game. Brown and Wesco are third and fourth on the Jets depth chart with starter Chris Herndon IV (hamstring) and backup Ryan Griffin (ankle) on Injured Reserve. No Jets tight end will have relevance in fantasy until next season.
New York Jets tight end Daniel Brown caught just one pass for four yards in a loss to the Ravens Thursday. Brown got just two targets while filling in for the injured Ryan Griffin (ankle) who was filling in for the injured Chris Herndon (hamstring). Brown is a serviceable blocker, so there's that, but the third-string tight end won't have any appeal in fantasy football.
New York Jets tight end Daniel Brown caught his only target for a 20-yard touchdown in a win Sunday in Washington. Brown got the scoring going with a touchdown to cap a 75-yard opening drive touchdown, the fourth week in a row New York has found the end zone on their first drive. That would be all for Brown in the game, however, as starting tight end Ryan Griffin had a big afternoon. As a backup tight end on a disappointing offense, Brown has no fantasy value.
Daniel Brown and Deonte Thompson Flash Possible Fantasy Potential, Too Soon to Know for Sure
With quarterback Matt Barkley under center, the Bears' passing game took a turn for the strange in Week 12 as tight end Daniel Brown and wide receiver Deonte Thompson each scored their first career touchdowns. Brown finished the day catching 3-of-4 targets for 24 yards while Thompson hauled in 5-of-9 targets for 44 yards. But as both of those performances are by far each player's best day of the season and came at the expense of receivers higher up in the pecking order, it's hard to predict either will continue to be as involved in the Bears' weak offensive going forward. Keep an eye on both in deep leagues just in case but most leagues' waiver wires can continue hosting the majority of the Bears' players.
