Darrell Henderson Jr. News

Darrell Henderson Jr. Has Recovered From Ankle Surgery

Los Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson Jr. (ankle) said on Wednesday that he has recovered from surgery to fix a high ankle sprain suffered last December. Yeah. Im good to go now. I feel like if we were able to practice today Id be out there with no limits, Henderson said. He'll be in the mix to help replace Todd Gurley II this year, along with rookie Cam Akers and Malcolm Brown. It's good news that Henderson will be full-go for training camp next month, but it's worrisome for his fantasy upside that the team took Akers with their first pick in the second round in April. The Rams backfield figures to be a timeshare and Akers appears to be a more complete back, which makes Henderson more of an RB3/flex, at best.

Rams Place Darrell Henderson On Injured Reserve

The Los Angeles Rams placed rookie running back Darrell Henderson (ankle) on Injured Reserve on Saturday and promoted running back John Kelly from the practice squad in a corresponding move. The 22-year-old third-round pick didn't wind up playing as big of a role in the team's offense as most projected before the season. Henderson had just 39 carries for 147 yards on the ground in parts of 13 games played behind Todd Gurley and Malcolm Brown. There's a good chance he'll be used more often in 2020 as the Rams look to continue to spell Gurley. With the Rams potentially resting starters in a meaningless Week 17 matchup against Arizona, Brown could wind up being a sneaky DFS pick on Sunday. Gurley and the rest of LA's starters will be risky fantasy options.

Darrell Henderson Shouldn't Be Started

Los Angeles Rams running back Darrell Henderson rushed four times for four yards in Week 10, and he figures to continue sharing backup duties with Malcolm Brown. Henderson isn't worth starting against the Chicago Bears, but he should be handcuffed to starting running back Todd Gurley.
