Dawuane Smoot Fantasy

The Jacksonville Jaguars re-signed defensive end Dawuane Smoot (Achilles) to a one-year deal on Friday with a maximum value of $6.25 million. Smoot had a visit with the Baltimore Ravens looming, but the Jaguars stepped up to bring him back into the fold after he suffered a torn right Achilles last December. The 28-year-old has worked hard to get himself healthy again, though, so he'll be a part of Jacksonville's defensive plan in 2023. The former third-rounder in 2017 has played all six of his NFL seasons with the Jags, totaling 123 tackles (86 solo), 22.5 sacks, 27 tackles for loss, 60 QB hits, five passes defensed, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 87 games (17 starts).

Free-agent defensive end Dawuane Smoot (Achilles) is set to visit with the Baltimore Ravens next week. Smoot, who suffered a torn Achilles last season, is preparing to get back on the field soon. The 28-year-old posted 22.5 sacks over the last four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars and could be a productive depth piece for Baltimore while helping to replace veteran Calais Campbell.

Jacksonville Jaguars standout defensive lineman Dawuane Smoot (Achilles) is feared to have torn his Achilles in the Thursday night win over the New York Jets, according to a source. Smoot has been one of the team's best defensive linemen this year, so losing him for the rest of the season would be a big blow as they try to make the playoffs. He's getting an MRI exam on Friday. The 27-year-old was carted off the field on Thursday night in the fourth quarter after a non-contact injury, which usually never end up being good. In his sixth year with Jacksonville, Smoot has recorded 21 tackles (14 solo), five sacks, six tackles for loss, 12 QB hits, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 15 games played (zero starts).
