Colts Try Out Kenyan Drake, Benny Snell, Devine Ozigbo
The Indianapolis Colts tried out free-agent running backs Kenyan Drake, Benny Snell Jr. and Devine Ozigbo on Wednesday. The Colts are unsurprisingly looking for more running back depth with Jonathan Taylor (ankle) still on the Physically Unable to Perform list and now unhappy with his contract. Backup Zack Moss also broke his arm in training camp practice earlier this week and could miss the start of the regular season in Week 1. Behind those two, the Colts only have Deon Jackson, Jake Funk and rookies Evan Hull and Toriano Clinton. Drake, 29, had 482 rushing yards and four TDs on 109 rushing attempts in 12 games (five starts) for the Baltimore Ravens in 2022. Snell, 25, saw his role decrease dramatically the last two years in Pittsburgh. And Ozigbo, 26, had only three carries for four yards in four games with the Broncos last year.
Denver Broncos running back Devine Ozigbo will be elevated ahead of the Week 12 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. The 26-year-old will make his third appearance for the team this Sunday. However, he'll be the third string back behind Latavius Murray and Marlon Mack. Possibly, Ozigbo gets a few carries, but it won't be enough to warrant rostering him in most fantasy formats.
Devine Ozigbo Elevated Saturday, Will Play In Week 8
Denver Broncos running back Devine Ozigbo was elevated from the practice squad this weekend. He is officially active for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, putting him in line to serve as the Broncos' No. 3 back behind Melvin Gordon and Latavius Murray. Ozigbo last played in Week 5, rushing for two yards and playing on special teams. He's likely headed for a similar role this week.
The Denver Broncos elevated running back Devine Ozigbo from the practice squad to the active roster for Thursday Night Football against the Indianapolis Colts, according to a source. He will play special teams and maybe more behind Melvin Gordon III and Mike Boone. Newly signed veteran Latavius Murray, who was just plucked off the New Orleans Saints practice squad this week, is inactive because of the quick turnaround into a new system. Murray is expected to make his Broncos debut in Week 6 against the division-rival Los Angeles Chargers. Javonte Williams (knee) suffered a season-ending torn ACL and LCL last week and will miss the rest of the 2022 season for the Broncos.
Denver Broncos running back Devine Ozigbo was busy in the 23-13 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in the preseason finale on Saturday. Ozigbo had a team-high 13 carries for 59 yards (4.5 yards per carry), also adding four catches on four targets for an additional 24 yards. The 25-year-old was waived by the New Orleans Saints last week and is hoping that his strong preseason performance will earn him a spot on the final 53-man roster. Also in the game, Mike Boone had five carries for a healthy 44 yards, and he caught both of his targets for seven yards. As of right now, Ozigbo is fourth on the Broncos RB depth chart behind Javonte Williams, Melvin Gordon III and Boone.
The New Orleans Saints signed free-agent running back Devine Ozigbo to an undisclosed deal on Monday. The Saints also signed linebacker Eric Wilson and waived center Cohl Cabral, linebacker Joel Dublanko and wide receiver Jalen McCleskey. Ozigbo was waived by the New England Patriots on May 2. The 25-year-old has played in 21 games (zero starts) over the last three years with the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Saints and has 11 carries for 25 yards while adding 13 receptions for 72 yards on 15 targets. Ozigbo originally signed with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Nebraska in 2019. He'll strictly be providing RB depth behind Alvin Kamara, Mark Ingram II, Tony Jones Jr. and Dwayne Washington and won't be a lock for the final roster.
The Jacksonville Jaguars claimed running back Devine Ozigbo off waivers from the New Orleans Saints on Monday. Ozigbo spent the last two seasons with the Jaguars, so he will return home with lead back James Robinson (ankle) suffering a minor ankle injury in the Week 8 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The 25-year-old carried the ball once for minus-three yards and caught his only target for a seven-yard game in two contests with the Saints. In the last two years with Jacksonville, Ozigbo caught 12 of his 14 targets for 65 yards and carried the ball 10 times for 28 yards. If Robinson is forced to miss any time or is limited in Week 9, Carlos Hyde and Dare Ogunbowale would be the next men up in the Jaguars backfield.
The New Orleans Saints are signing running back Devine Ozigbo to their active roster off the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad on Tuesday, according to a league source. The former undrafted free agent from Nebraska originally signed with the Saints in 2019, but he never saw the field in New Orleans and landed with the Jaguars later that year. In two seasons with Jacksonville, Ozigbo had just 10 carries for 28 yards while also catching 12 of 14 targets for 65 additional yards through the air. The Saints wanted some more RB depth with Tony Jones Jr. (ankle) expected to be out three to four weeks. Alvin Kamara will remain the Saints primary runner, with Dwayne Washington serving as his primary backup.
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Devine Ozigbo (hamstring) will start the 2020 season on the Injured Reserve. New rules this year mean Ozigbo could return for Week 4, but in the meantime, it appears that undrafted rookie James Robinson is going to get the first crack at the lead-back role. Robinson should be added in all 12-team leagues, while Ozigbo is still worth holding in deeper leagues, but he is likely a candidate to be dropped from fantasy rosters in the coming weeks for fantasy managers in need of additional depth. Jacksonville also added running back Dare Ogunbowale, who seems like an insurance policy for them right now. Along with Robinson, Chris Thompson is the other back that should see a decent workload in Week 1 against the Colts.
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Devine Ozigbo (hamstring) missed practice on Wednesday ahead of Week 1 against the Colts. Ozigbo performed well in training camp and was in line for some early down carries to begin the year after the team released Leonard Fournette, but he's not a lock to suit up in the season opener. Rookie James Robinson has gained steam in this backfield, along with pass-catching back Chris Thompson, ahead of Week 1. This backfield will likely remain fluid in the early going as a committee approach with little upside. Ozigbo is worth owning in much deeper leagues, but he's the least attractive flex option of the Jags running back trio as of right now.
