Los Angeles Rams quarterback Dresser Winn could make the initial 53-man roster as the No. 3 option on the depth chart, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. A product of the CFL, Winn is on his second stint with the Rams and played the entirety of Saturday's preseason finale, completing nine passes for 72 yards and adding another 20 yards on the ground. Rapoport indicates that the Rams could roster three quarterbacks, and with Jimmy Garoppolo suspended to start the year, Winn is on track to make the team behind Matthew Stafford and Stetson Bennett. If he does make the roster, Winn would likely be inactive on gameday as the Rams' emergency third quarterback.
Dresser Winn Has Modest Start For Rams In Preseason Finale
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Dresser Winn started and played the entire preseason game against the Houston Texans on Saturday with modest results. Winn completed 9 of 16 passes for 72 yards and added three rushes for 20 yards as the Rams fell 17-15 to the Texans. The second-year player out of Tennessee-Martin was not asked to do too much and most of his passing was underneath. He showed a little bit of rushing ability in what was his opportunity to showcase his skills. He should not make much of an impact this year behind Matthew Stafford, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Stetson Bennett on the depth chart at quarterback.
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Dresser Winn has been elevated from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Sunday's Week 9 game against the Green Bay Packers. This move makes sense for the Rams as starting quarterback Matthew Stafford (thumb) is questionable with a thumb injury. Brett Rypien would be in line to start if Stafford ends up not suiting up. If that ends up being the case, then Winn would back up Rypien on Sunday.
