Duane Brown News
New York Jets offensive tackle Duane Brown (hip, shoulder) has returned to practice this week, opening up his 21-day practice window to be activated from Injured Reserve. When Brown does come off IR, the Jets may put him back at left tackle and move Mekhi Becton back to right tackle. "Where we are right now, we have to make sure the best five are on the field," head coach Robert Saleh said. When healthy, Brown is probably one of the team's best five offensive lineman, so he should be guaranteed a starting spot on the O-line whenever he returns to game action, which could come as soon as Monday night against the Los Angeles Chargers. Saleh hinted that Brown wasn't 100% healthy at the start of the regular season and the Jets may have rushed him back after he was on the Physically Unable to Perform list for most of training camp.
New York Jets offensive tackle Duane Brown (shoulder) will be activated off of the PUP list Wednesday once he passes his physical. The veteran had shoulder surgery during the offseason to fix a torn labrum. He missed five games with the injury in 2022. The 37-year-old will now compete for the starting left tackle spot to protect the blindside of new quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He's expected to just participate in individual drills once he's activated, and there is no word yet on if he will make his preseason debut Saturday against the Giants.
New York Jets offensive tackle Duane Brown (shoulder) was placed on the PUP list. The veteran had shoulder surgery during the offseason and isn't cleared to practice. Brown, a first-round pick in 2008, signed with the Jets in August 2022 after suiting up for the Texans and Seahawks. He was already fighting to keep his starting job, so the latest update won't help the situation.
