Duane Brown News
New York Jets offensive tackle Duane Brown (shoulder) missed the first four games last year and required surgery in the offseason, but "he's recovering well," according to general manager Joe Douglas. Brown turns 38 in August, though, and retirement is a possibility this offseason. Left tackle Mekhi Becton (knee) hasn't played much in his time with the Jets, but Douglas said he's ready to return to starting form in 2023. Left tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker (elbow) is also recovering this offseason from a season-ending elbow injury. He's the only Jets O-lineman since at least 2006 to start at three different positions in the same season, so he gives the team some flexibility on the offensive line. If Brown ends up retiring, hopefully Becton will be able to hold down the starting left tackle position.
The New York Jets have activated offensive tackle Duane Brown from Injured Reserve ahead of the team's Week 5 matchup against the Miami Dolphins. The veteran is yet to suit up in the 2022 regular season after suffering a shoulder injury in early September, but has practiced all week and will make his Jets debut on Sunday. Brown figures to be a key piece of New York's offensive line going forward as the 37-year-old was still a Pro Bowler just last season. This figures to be an upgrade for quarterback Zach Wilson as well as running backs Breece Hall and Michael Carter.
New York Jets tackle Duane Brown (shoulder) landed on injured reserve on Saturday. He had already been ruled out for Week 1, so the latest update means he'll be out for at least three more games. The veteran signed with the team during the offseason after Mekhi Becton (knee) was lost for the year, so obviously, it's a tough blow. George Fant is expected to slide back over to fill the void. Nevertheless, it's not an ideal situation for an already hobbled Jets offensive line responsible for keeping aging quarterback Joe Flacco upright against the Ravens.
