Miami Dolphins running back Gerrid Doaks rushed 11 times for 67 yards during Saturday's preseason finale against the Philadelphia Eagles. He saw his first touch midway through the third quarter and ultimately played Miami's final four offensive drives. Although he showed promise in camp last year and earned another opportunity this year, he likely won't make the 53-man roster due to the Dolphins' insane depth at the running back position. If Miami has to cut one of Sony Michel, Myles Gaskin, or Salvon Ahmed, it's hard to envision a scenario in which Doaks makes the team. He'll likely be a priority practice squad signing for the Dolphins next week.
Miami Dolphins running back Gerrid Doaks made the most of his chances during the preseason. He posted a two-touchdown game in the preseason finale. Sadly, it was not enough to earn him a spot on the 53-man roster. Although, the Dolphins did keep him around with a spot on the practice squad. The seventh-round running back doesn't have a ton of upside, but is worth keeping around. Possibly, he can be an emergency back for the organization, assuming they lose a player or two due to injury. That being said, Doaks won't have fantasy value in 2021, but is deserving of a spot on the team.
Miami Dolphins running back Gerrid Doaks made the most of his chances during Sunday's preseason finale. He rushed 16 times for 56 yards and two touchdowns in the win over the Cincinnati Bengals. The Dolphins rested most of their starters, so Doaks saw a majority of the workload here. He finished with an average of 3.5 yards per carry, which is decent, but not enough to really move the needle on the depth chart. The Dolphins already have too many options at running back. Doaks would be lost in the shuffle, assuming he even makes the 53-man roster.
With the 244th pick of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins have selected Cincinnati running back Gerrid Doaks. Miami was a team that many thought would go running back earlier, but it appears they're good with rolling into 2021 with Myles Gaskin as the starter. Doaks was a surprising choice as he didn't come into the draft with a lot of regard, but he's a good blocker and could eventually see some snaps if he has an impressive camp.
