DJ Chark, Hayden Hurst Healthy Scratches For Sunday Night
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver DJ Chark and tight end Hayden Hurst won't play in Sunday night's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Both players are healthy. However, with receivers Joshua Palmer, Quentin Johnston, Ladd McConkey, and tight end Will Dissly all active, the move was made to give Hurst and Chark the night off. But considering Hurst has only seven catches and Chark doesn't have any this season, their absences won't have much of an impact on fantasy managers.

Still, Johnston and Hurst will be tough to trust regarding fantasy output with the emergence of rookie wideout Ladd McConkey (hip). The Bolts will square off against the Cleveland Browns at Huntington Bank Field this Sunday.

LA's pass-catchers both kicked off the week tagged with DNPs, though it took the former until Friday to log a limited session, while the latter did so twice this week. Tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) is also questionable for the contest, while wide receivers Quentin Johnston (ankle) and Derius Davis (hamstring) have both been deemed doubtful. It's been quite the whirlwind of injuries for the Chargers over the last few weeks. With a litany of athletes' statuses in question, tight ends Stone Smartt and Eric Tomlinson and wide receivers Joshua Palmer, Simi Fehoko, and Brenden Rice are the only Chargers pass-catchers not to carry a designation ahead of Week 8.

However, it's worth noting that he was able to log two full sessions leading up to the Chargers' loss to the Cardinals this past Monday night. This may be just a maintenance day for the 28-year-old veteran, but fantasy managers will want to monitor the former Seattle Seahawk's status after his breakout performance in Week 7. The only tight ends on Los Angeles' roster that do not carry a designation are Stone Smartt and Eric Tomlinson.

Hurst didn't practice all week and will now hope to return for a Week 8 contest versus the New Orleans Saints this Sunday. The 31-year-old has been a TE2 in fantasy, at best, so far in his first year with the Chargers. Through his first five games in 2024, he has only six receptions on 10 targets for 59 yards and no touchdowns in a run-first offense. With Hurst sidelined on Monday night against Arizona, expect Will Dissly to be a little more involved in the passing attack at the tight end position. At best, Dissly will be a deep DFS sleeper at the position.

Still, neither play will find a home in fantasy lineups for Week 3 due to their lack of statistical output. That will be even more true if Justin Herbert (ankle), who is questionable, isn't active.
Los Angeles Chargers tight end Hayden Hurst is a low-end floor play at best in a Week 2 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. In the first game of the season, Hurst saw three targets and made two catches for 33 yards. He was on the field for 61% of the team's offensive snaps while fellow tight end Will Dissly showed up on the field for 44% of them. Dissly had a few costly penalties which may have led to him playing fewer snaps, but this looks to still clearly be a tandem tight end situation. Hurst would be the pass catching side of that group, but his production will be limited by a run-first approach and several wide receivers who traditionally excel at shorter routes. Hurst is touchdown-dependent in terms of being any kind of a fantasy difference maker, but should at least have a decent floor each week based on his role.
