Jack Doyle Announces His Retirement

Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle announced his retirement in a statement on Monday. Doyle was considering retirement at the conclusion of the 2021 season, so this shouldn't come as a huge surprise. The 31-year-old was due to make $5.45 million this year if he continued to play. Doyle had 29 catches for 302 yards and three touchdowns while sharing snaps at the position with both Mo Alie-Cox and rookie Kylen Granson last year. The two-time Pro Bowler will finish his nine-year career with a total of 295 receptions on 407 targets for 2,729 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns in 131 games, all with the Colts. Alie-Cox is set to be a free agent in 2022, so Granson could have a substantial role as the pass-catching tight end if Alie-Cox goes elsewhere.

T.Y. Hilton, Jack Doyle Contemplating Retirement

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton and tight end Jack Doyle, who just completed their 10th and ninth seasons, respectively, are both contemplating retirement this offseason. Doyle is under contract through the 2022 season, but Hilton will be a free agent in March. Hilton, 31, contemplated retirement last September after a neck injury sidelined him for the start of the season. Hilton is 309 yards shy of 10,000 receiving yards in his career, a feat that would make the Colts the first franchise with three receivers to hit that mark entirely in its uniform. The four-time Pro Bowler had only 23 catches for 331 yards and three touchdowns in 10 games in 2021, and he's missed 15 games in the last four years due to injuries. Doyle had 29 catches for 302 yards and three scores in 17 games while sharing playing time with Mo Alie-Cox and rookie Kylen Granson.

Jack Doyle Questionable To Play Sunday

Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle (ankle, knee) returned to a full practice on Friday but is questionable to play in Week 17 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Doyle missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but he has a chance to suit up this weekend after returning to the practice field. The 31-year-old has been splitting snaps with Mo Alie-Cox and Kylen Granson this year, though, which has made him a low-ceiling TE2 for fantasy managers. Alie-Cox, who played 90% of the snaps when Doyle was injured last week, would be a more attractive TE2 if Doyle were to sit out, but it'll be hard to trust any Indy pass-catcher against the Raiders if quarterback Carson Wentz is unable to clear the league's COVID protocols before Sunday.

Jack Doyle Misses Another Practice Thursday

Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle (ankle, knee) missed practice for the second straight day on Thursday. If he isn't able to get back on the practice field on Friday, Doyle will likely be ruled out for the Week 17 game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Doyle played only 3% of the offensive snaps in the Week 16 win over the Arizona Cardinals because of his injury and wasn't targeted before going down. The 31-year-old hasn't been much of a TE2 in fantasy while sharing playing time with Mo Alie-Cox. Doyle has three touchdowns and 291 receiving yards on 28 receptions in 15 games this year. Alie-Cox would become a more attractive touchdown-dependent TE2 if Doyle doesn't play, but rookie Kylen Granson could be involved as well. None of Indy's pass-catchers will be particularly attractive if quarterback Carson Wentz doesn't clear the COVID protocols, though.

Jack Doyle Doesn't Practice Wednesday

Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle (ankle, knee) wasn't on the practice field on Wednesday. Doyle was injured in last Saturday's win over the Arizona Cardinals on Christmas Day, which led to more playing time for Mo Alie-Cox, who caught two of his four targets for 42 yards. Alie-Cox and rookie Kylen Granson would see a bump in playing time if Doyle doesn't get cleared to play in Week 17 against the Las Vegas Raiders, but the Colts could also be without quarterback Carson Wentz, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday. If Wentz is cleared to play on Sunday morning and Doyle is inactive, Alie-Cox and Granson would merely be deep sleepers as TE2 plays in fantasy against Vegas. Doyle has just 28 receptions for 291 yards and three touchdowns on 41 targets in 15 games this year.

Jack Doyle Downgraded To Out In Week 16

Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle (ankle, knee) has been ruled out the rest of Saturday's game against the Arizona Cardinals. He was initially listed as doubtful to return and later downgraded to out. The 31-year-old exited Saturday's game with knee/ankle injuries and wasn't targeted before leaving. Mo Alie-Cox will serve as the Colts' primary tight end while Doyle is sidelined. Doyle is considered day-to-day.

Jack Doyle Draws One Target In Week 15 Win

Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle caught his only pass for zero yards during a 27-17 Week 15 win over the New England Patriots. Doyle has been Carson Wentz's favorite tight end target this season, but the limited passing attempts tarnish Doyle's outlook moving forward. He is worth stashing, but Doyle is only valuable in lineups if the game script forces the Colts to attempt more passes. He did produce a 6-81-1 line against Tampa Bay in Week 12 so don't drop him to the waiver wire after two disappointing finishes.

Jack Doyle Good To Go For Saturday's Game

Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle (ankle) returned to a full practice on Friday and doesn't carry an injury designation into Saturday's Week 15 game against the New England Patriots. Doyle landed on the injury report on Thursday when he got in a limited practice, but there's nothing to see here. He will play this weekend, although he's not much of a fantasy asset in Indy's run-first offense while sharing snaps and targets with Mo Alie-Cox and rookie Kylen Granson at the position. Doyle did have a big game with the Colts in comeback mode in Week 12 with six catches on seven targets for 81 yards and his third touchdown of the year, but he followed that up with one catch for 13 yards in the Week 13 win over the Houston Texans.

Jack Doyle Limited In Week 13 Win

Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle caught his only target for 13 yards during a 31-0 Week 13 rout of the Houston Texans. Doyle entered Sunday's divisional road contest with a touchdown in three of his previous five games. However, he was unable to hit paydirt against a vulnerable Texans defense. Wentz only attempted 22 passes and distributed one of them towards Doyle, which is always a risk when rolling out Colts' receiving options in lineups. The Colts like to lean on Jonathan Taylor to control the game script and eliminate the opponent from scoring opportunities, so Doyle becomes a run-blocker primarily when they execute successfully. He is a boom-bust streamer against the New England Patriots in Week 14.

Jack Doyle Active For Week 13

Indianapolis Colts tight end Jack Doyle (knee) will play Sunday against the Texans. Doyle had six catches for 81 yards and a touchdown last week, but was held without a catch in Week 6 when he faced the Texans last. Doyle has upside against this defense, but is more of a boom-or-bust TE2 play than anything else.
