After just releasing tight end O.J. Howard earlier this week, the Las Vegas Raiders signed free-agent veteran tight end Jacob Hollister to an undisclosed deal on Wednesday. Hollister will return to the Raiders after playing in three games for the team in 2022. In his five games with the Raiders and Minnesota Vikings last year, he wasn't targeted at all on offense. The 29-year-old has 83 receptions on 129 targets for 707 yards and seven touchdowns in six NFL seasons over 62 games (12 starts) for the Raiders, Vikings, New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks and Jacksonville Jaguars. Hollister won't be a lock to make the final roster out of training camp as depth behind rookie Michael Mayer, Austin Hooper and Jesper Horsted.
The Raiders have released tight end Jacob Hollister with an injury settlement. The veteran, who signed with Vegas back in March, is currently dealing with an undisclosed ailment. He's suited up for the Patriots, Seahawks, and Jaguars throughout his five years in the league, totaling 83 catches for 707 yards and seven touchdowns. It's certainly possible Hollister will find work elsewhere once he gets healthy. However, the 28-year-old isn't expected to be a routine fantasy contributor, no matter where he lands next.
The Las Vegas Raiders agreed with free-agent tight end Jacob Hollister on an undisclosed one-year deal on Monday, according to a source. Hollister began his career with the New England Patriots, so he'll be reunited with head coach Josh McDaniels. The 28-year-old tight end spent last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars and had a disappointing nine receptions for 55 yards and one touchdown on 14 targets in seven games (two starts). Darren Waller is an elite tight end in the league and is obviously the Raiders starter at the position, so Hollister will be competing with Foster Moreau for No. 2 tight end duties. He will not be on the fantasy radar to begin the 2022 season.
The Jacksonville Jaguars placed tight end Jacob Hollister, defensive tackle Jay Tufele and linebacker Damien Wilson on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday. Fellow tight ends Luke Farrell and Chris Manhertz went on the COVID list on Monday, so James O'Shaughnessy is currently the only tight end left on the team's active roster. If none of Farrell, Manhertz or Hollister can clear the league's protocols before Sunday's game against the New England Patriots, expect Jacksonville to elevate tight end Matt Sokol from the practice squad. O'Shaughnessy has more appeal as a TE2 sleeper this week, but the Patriots have also allowed the fewest fantasy points per game to the position all season.
Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Jacob Hollister is not a worthy Week 4 play against the Bengals on Thursday night. Hollister took over starting duties last week after James O'Shaughnessy went on IR, but he performed terribly. Notably, Hollister dropped two balls, with one bouncing right off of him into the defender's hands for an interception. Head coach Urban Meyer said that Hollister "can't do that" when he was asked about the play. There's no guarantee that the tight end starts again, but even if he does, Hollister isn't close to a top 24 fantasy tight end in Week 4.
Jacob Hollister Fails To Take Advantage Of Opportunity
Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Jacob Hollister was thrust into a starting role in Week 3, but he only managed two catches for 15 yards and a drop that resulted in an interception. Hollister didn't look capable of handling a lead receiving role at any point during the game despite being targeted six times, and he visibly irritated Trevor Lawrence at times. The veteran could lose playing time next week to Chris Manhertz and/or Luke Farrell, but the entire Jaguars tight end room is one to stay away from for fantasy purposes.
Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Jacob Hollister is set to potentially play a large role following James O'Shaughnessy's placement on the injured reserve list. Per SI's John Shipley, "it should be expected for Hollister to immediately step into a starting role" with O'Shaughnessy out. Hollister has 74 career receptions, 652 receiving yards, and six touchdowns in his career to date, with most of his production coming with Seattle Seahawks. Hollister is competent enough as a receiver that he should be on the fantasy radar this week, but for now, he's a fringe TE2 streaming option.
Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Jacob Hollister is the team's only inactive skill position player ahead of Sunday's Week 1 meeting with the Houston Texans. Not a lot of surprises here, as Hollister was expected to be the No. 3 tight end on the team. This seems to imply that rookie tight end Luke Farrell is officially ahead of Hollister, but that might just mean Farrell will contribute on special teams. The Jaguars tight end position doesn't have much fantasy upside at this point, regardless of who is manning the position.
Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Jacob Hollister should contribute "right away" after being signed on Friday, per Ashlyn Sullivan of Jaguars.com. Sullivan also noted that the Hollister signing will be "big for the Jaguars." The buzz makes some sense as Hollister is the team's best pass-catching tight end on the roster, though it remains to be seen if the Jaguars will use a heavy rotation at the position or whether they will even utilize the position much at all in the passing game. Hollister could work his way into a fantasy-relevant role if the team decides to lean on him as some reporters around the team seem to think they will, but things are still very much up in the air right now in terms of the young tight end's fantasy value.
The Jacksonville Jaguars signed veteran tight end Jacob Hollister on Friday after he was surprisingly released by the Bills earlier this week. Hollister immediately becomes the most accomplished pass catcher among Jaguars tight ends, and he could have a significant role. Hollister's role was reduced in his final season with the Seattle Seahawks last year, however, and he only managed 25 receptions, 209 yards, and three touchdowns. Hollister's resume is far from elite, but it's fair to say that he projects as the team's primary receiving tight end due to the lack of other options. Hollister is off the radar in most fantasy formats right now, but he could carve out a fantasy-relevant role as the season progresses.
