Lions
The Detroit Lions signed free-agent quarterback Jake Fromm on Monday, according to NFL insider Ari Meirov. This move comes just days after backup quarterback Hendon Hooker (head) entered concussion protocol. Head coach Dan Campbell said he doesn't expect Hooker back until later this week. Fromm, a 2020 fifth-round pick out of Georgia, has spent time with the Buffalo Bills, New York Giants, and Washington Commanders. He's played in just three regular-season games and completed under 50% of his passes for 210 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. He now joins a quarterback room with Hooker, Jared Goff, and Nate Sudfeld. It would be a surprise if he sticks around and makes the Week 1 53-man roster.

Commanders Release Jake Fromm
The Washington Commanders released quarterback Jake Fromm on Tuesday, according to NFL.com. The former Georgia Bulldog was a fifth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills and spent the last two seasons with Washington after a brief stint with the New York Giants. Despite being in the league for four seasons, he has thrown just 60 passes, completing 27 of them for 210 yards and one touchdown to go along with three interceptions. The Commanders signed Marcus Mariota this offseason and added rookies Jayden Daniels and Sam Hartman to their quarterback room, so Fromm became expendable. The 25-year-old is unlikely to earn playing time anytime soon barring a slew of injuries around the NFL.

Jake Fromm Released By Washington
Quarterback Jake Fromm was informed by the Washington Commanders that he did not make the initial 53-man roster. The former Georgia quarterback played in all three preseason games for Washington, finishing 28-for-41 for 261 yards and three touchdowns. His strong exhibition play included leading a game-winning drive against the Baltimore Ravens. The Commanders opted to keep veteran Jacoby Brissett on the roster to back up starter Sam Howell. If Fromm goes unclaimed on waivers, he's a strong candidate to end up back in Washington and dress for games under the NFL's new rules.

Jake Fromm Works Out With Giants
The New York Giants worked out quarterback Jake Fromm on Tuesday. The Giants are dealing with injuries to each of their top two quarterbacks as Daniel Jones has an ankle injury and Tyrod Taylor is in the league's concussion protocol. Fromm was in town as a contingency plan in case neither Jones nor Taylor is able to take the field in Week 5 against the Green Bay Packers in London. Fromm appeared in three games for the Giants in 2021, completing 27 of his 60 passes for 210 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions.

Mike Glennon And Jake Fromm Could Both Play On Sunday
New York Giants head coach Joe Judge said both Mike Glennon and Jake Fromm could see reps at quarterback on Sunday against the Bears. While many beat writers suggest that Glennon should get the start and see the bulk of the work, neither quarterback is playable, even in two-quarterback leagues, given the uncertainty of their playing time. The duo also make the Chicago Bears an intriguing fantasy DST, but be careful because the Bears are the 28th-ranked fantasy defense over the last month, so they are a risky option to rest your fantasy title hopes on.

Jake Fromm Abysmal In First Career Start
New York Giants quarterback Jake Fromm started Sunday's 34-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and completed six of 17 passes for 25 yards with no touchdowns and one interception while also rushing three times for 12 yards and a lost fumble. Mike Glennon replaced him in the second half. The 23-year-old made his first career start but led Giants to three points in the first half and ultimately benched with eight minutes remaining in the third quarter. New York hasn't announced who the team's starting quarterback will be against the Chicago Bears in Week 17. Still, it's a situation fantasy managers should avoid altogether regardless of which quarterback draws the start.

Giants Plan To Start Jake Fromm In Week 16
New York Giants quarterback Jake Fromm is in line to serve as the team's starting quarterback for Sunday's matchup against the Eagles, per Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post. Fromm entered in the second half of a Week 15 matchup with the Cowboys and went 6-for-12 for 82 yards, but he also seemed to spark an offense that had been largely listless under Mike Glennon. With Daniel Jones (neck) done for the season, it appears that head coach Joe Judge is going to give Fromm a leash to prove himself as the team's signal caller down the stretch. Traditionally, a third QB proves disastrous for the upside of pass catchers, but Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney (oblique, quad), Darius Slayton, and Evan Engram are in arguably better positions entering Week 16 than before. While Fromm is far too risky to consider in season-long semifinals/finals matchup, he could be a solid contrarian DFS option in tournament lineups at his price tag.

Jake Fromm Could Get His Shot Soon
According to NJ Advance Media's Zack Rosenblatt, it seems inevitable that New York Giants quarterback Jake Fromm will start a game for the team before the end of the season. The second-year QB hasn't seen a snap in an NFL game and wasn't on New York's roster a month ago. The G-Men have lost Mike Glennon's two starts by a combined 27 points, and Daniel Jones' neck injury could keep him out the rest of the year. Glennon has completed only half of his passes and has a 61.4 QB rating the last two weeks. But Fromm hasn't shown enough in practices to give coaches the confidence that he's ready to start. The 23-year-old will surely struggle if he gets into a game, but the Giants don't have anything to lose at this point. Their season has completely gone off the rails, and it's hard to put much trust in any of their offensive weapons in fantasy as a result.

Jake Fromm Could See Action This Weekend
Although New York Giants quarterback Mike Glennon is expected to start this Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys with Daniel Jones (neck) still not cleared for contact, Jake Fromm could see some action in the game as well, according to a source. Neither QB is the answer for this beleaguered Giants offense. Glennon has gone 40-for-80 for 378 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in back-to-back losses to the Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers as the starter in place of Jones. He's unlikely to produce much this weekend against the Cowboys, either, so he's strictly a desperation play as a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues. Fromm, a former fifth-round pick by the Buffalo Bills last year, has yet to take the field in an NFL game.

Jake Fromm In Line To Start In Week 14?
New York Giants quarterback Jake Fromm, who was on the Buffalo Bills practice squad a week ago, is in line to start in Week 14 against the Los Angeles Chargers with Daniel Jones (neck) still not cleared for contact and with Mike Glennon in the concussion protocol following the Week 13 loss to the Miami Dolphins. Fromm has been cramming the Giants playbook over the last week, so he's unlikely to have a firm grasp of the offense if he's forced into a starting role next Sunday on the road. Before he landed in New York, the 23-year-old was the fourth-string QB in Buffalo behind Josh Allen, Mitchell Trubisky and Davis Webb. He'll be making his NFL debut if he's forced to start in Week 14, so fantasy managers shouldn't expect much at all from the Giants offense.
