Jalen Guyton News
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Jalen Guyton signed his free-agent tender Tuesday. This almost certainly keeps him with the team for 2022. Guyton is far too volatile and inconsistent to be a viable option in redraft leagues but remains a weekly threat to hit the big play. The 24-year-old caught 31 passes for 448 yards and three touchdowns over 16 games in 2021. With Keenan Allen, an elite possession receiver, and Mike Williams great on any 50/50 ball, Guyton is an excellent bet for the occasional deep score this season. The lack of attention from opposing defenses combined with Justin Herbert's arm makes Guyton an intriguing option in best-ball and DFS.
The Los Angeles Chargers are tendering exclusive-rights free-agent wide receiver Jalen Guyton, according to a source. Guyton will return to the team in 2022 after he recorded 31 receptions for 448 yards and three touchdowns on 48 targets over 16 games in 2021. He has six total touchdowns in the last two years, but unless injuries strike Keenan Allen or Mike Williams, Guyton will continue to be a boom/bust deep threat, albeit in an explosive Chargers offense. Guyton could also become more buried on the depth chart if the Chargers add to the position in free agency or the draft. Joshua Palmer, who was a rookie in 2021, took valuable snaps away from Guyton.
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Jalen Guyton was removed from the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Wednesday and will be available to play in Week 17 against the division-rival Denver Broncos. Guyton was forced to sit out of the Week 16 upset loss to the Houston Texans. He has scored in each of his last three games and has caught all nine of his targets for 187 yards, although one of those games came with Keenan Allen out due to COVID. Still, he's become more of a weapon for quarterback Justin Herbert down the stretch. His fantasy value in Week 17 will depend largely on whether Mike Williams can return under the league's new COVID-19 protocols.
