J.C. Jackson Released By Patriots

The New England Patriots are releasing veteran cornerback J.C. Jackson ahead of free agency. The move clears $14 million in cap with no dead money. Jackson spent the first four seasons of his NFL career as a Patriot before signing a five-year, $82.5 million contract with the Los Angeles Chargers ahead of the 2022 campaign. He played in just two games for the Chargers in 2023 and was traded back to the Patriots for a late-round draft pick. Unfortunately, he continued to struggle, and now his NFL career is uncertain. The 28-year-old has 26 interceptions in 77 career games.

J.C. Jackson Not Traveling Internationally With Patriots

New England Patriots cornerback J.C. Jackson is not expected to travel with the team to Germany to face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 10. The former Pro Bowler was recently traded to New England -- where he began his career -- after less than two seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the decision was made to have him stay home, get through the bye, and return in a better place. Jackson has played in five games since being shipped to New England, posting 14 tackles and three passes defended. It appears as if his best days are behind him as a player. Myles Bryant, Jonathan Jones, and Jack Jones are the team's top three cornerbacks for this international matchup.

J.C. Jackson Traded To Patriots

The Los Angeles Chargers are trading cornerback J.C. Jackson to the New England Patriots for a swap of late-round picks. Jackson signed a five-year $82.5 million contract with the Chargers before the start of the 2022 campaign but has not played up to expectations. The 27-year-old was drafted by New England in 2018 and earned Pro Bowl and All-Pro Honors with the organization in 2021. With first-round rookie Christian Gonzalez (shoulder) out indefinitely, the Patriots are hoping Jackson can revive his career with this reunion.

Arrest Warrant Issued For J.C. Jackson

Los Angeles Chargers cornerback J.C. Jackson violated the terms of his probation, and a Massachusetts judge issued an arrest warrant on Monday after Jackson failed to appear in court last Friday. Jackson was charged with driving 100 mph in Massachusetts in 2021 while he was a member of the New England Patriots. He never paid a $600 fine or attended a four-hour class on reckless driving. Last year, he was arrested in Massachusetts in relation to a non-violent family issue and was released a day later. Jackson was also arrested in Florida in 2015 on suspicion of robbery and burglary but was found not guilty. The 27-year-old was a surprise inactive in the Week 3 win over the Minnesota Vikings, but it wasn't related to his off-field issue. It remains to be seen if the Chargers will discipline Jackson or if he'll play in Week 4 against the division-rival Las Vegas Raiders.

J.C. Jackson Not Listed On Injury Report

Los Angeles Chargers cornerback J.C. Jackson (knee), who ended his first year with the Chargers on Injured Reserve after only five games played due to a ruptured patellar tendon, was not listed on the team's injury report on Wednesday heading into Week 1 of the regular season against the Miami Dolphins. It was a very disappointing year for the 27-year-old defensive back in 2022, even before his season-ending knee injury, but he looks set to open his second year in LA as a starter across from Asante Samuel. A Pro Bowler in his final year with the New England Patriots in 2021, Jackson will enter the 2023 campaign off the fantasy radar in IDP leagues.

J.C. Jackson Unsure If He'll Be Ready For Week 1

Los Angeles Chargers cornerback J.C. Jackson (knee) isn't sure if he'll be ready for Week 1. "I don't want to put a projection on myself at this time," said Jackson on Tuesday. "I'm working each and everyday to be ready. Week 1 or Week 3, whatever week it is, I'm going to be ready mentally and physically." The 27-year-old signed a lucrative deal with the Chargers in March of 2022 after spending his entire career in New England. Unfortunately, he tore his patellar tendon in Week 7 of last season and has been working his way back since. Without a doubt, the team is certainly hoping Jackson is ready for the opener, although it's unlikely they'll want him back before he's ready.

J.C. Jackson Leaves Practice On Friday

Los Angeles Chargers cornerback J.C. Jackson (knee) exited practice on Friday. The 27-year-old, who tore his patellar tendon in Week 7 of last season, experienced "general soreness" on his surgically repaired knee, so the team took the logical approach and kept him out. Jackson signed a five-year, $82.5 million contract in March of 2022 and has appeared in 67 games throughout his career, totaling 173 tackles and 25 interceptions. He's also a one-time Pro Bowler and won a Super Bowl with the Patriots. Fortunately, Jackson appears to have avoided a significant setback, although he may be limited to a degree moving ahead.

J.C. Jackson Doing Individual Drills

Los Angeles Chargers cornerback J.C. Jackson (knee) was spotted doing individual drills at practice on Friday. The 27-year-old signed a five-year, $82.5 million contract in March of 2022 after spending his first four seasons in New England. Unfortunately, his first year in LA abruptly ended after he tore his patellar tendon in Week 7. Although Jackson has a way to go regarding his rehab efforts, the team remains optimistic he'll be ready to start the 2023-24 campaign. But even if he isn't, Friday's update is still positive news for IDP managers.

Chargers Optimistic J.C. Jackson Will Be Ready For Training Camp

Los Angeles Chargers general manager Tom Telesco said the team is optimistic that cornerback J.C. Jackson (knee) will be ready for training camp this summer. Jackson is still recovering after tearing his patellar tendon in Week 7 of last year. If Jackson is ready to go for training camp at the end of July, he should be ready for the start of the 2023 regular season as well, barring any setbacks along the way. Still, the 27-year-old doesn't have a firm timetable for a return right now. We'll know more on Jackson's status once he gets back onto the field, and the Bolts are hoping he'll play much better in 2023 than he did in his first year with the team before his injury.

J.C. Jackson Expected To Play This Year

Los Angeles Chargers general manager Tom Telesco is operating under the assumption that the team will have cornerback J.C. Jackson (knee) for the 2023 season. Jackson is rehabbing a torn patellar tendon he suffered in Week 7 of last year in his first campaign with the team. The 27-year-old was a huge bust after signing a five-year, $82.5 million deal in free agency last offseason, but hopefully for the Chargers he'll be able to bounce back in 2023 with better health. Telesco also said defensive linemen Austin Johnson and Otito Ogbonnia, who both suffered serious knee injuries in the middle of last year, are "going to be playing this year."
