J.D. McKissic News

Redskins Giving J.D. McKissic A Two-Year Deal

The Washington Redskins agreed to an undisclosed two-year deal with running back J.D. McKissic on Wednesday, according to a source. McKissic had 38 carries for 205 yards and also caught 34 passes for 233 yards and a touchdown in his lone season with Detroit after three seasons in Seattle to begin his career. In D.C. he'll join a backfield that includes Adrian Peterson, Derrius Guice and Bryce Love. With Chris Thompson likely departing in free agency, McKissic could see a role as a third-down pass-catching back, but he'll need an injury or two ahead of him to be worth snatching up off the waiver wire in most leagues.

J.D. McKissic Becomes Free Agent

The Detroit Lions didn't tender a contract to restricted free-agent running back J.D. McKissic, making him a free agent. McKissic was forced into duty in 2019 with the Lions with their backfield beat up, but he still only had 38 carries for 205 yards and no rushing touchdowns in 16 games, although he did run for 5.4 yards a carry. He also added 34 receptions for 233 yards and one touchdown. The 26-year-old is mostly a depth option as a third-down back, so he's unlikely to have much of a role if he signs on with another team on the open market.

J.D. McKissic Makes Four Catches Sunday

Detroit Lions running back J.D. McKissic rushed one time for two yards and made four catches for 16 yards in a loss to the Vikings Sunday. McKissic continues to be the passing downs option in the Detroit backfield but isn't getting enough work to warrant starting in fantasy. He has a good matchup with the Buccaneers in Week 15, but is nothing more than an inexpensive DFS dart throw in the hope he scores in a game that could turn into a shootout.
