Jordan Poyer News
Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer is expected to re-sign with the team, according to sources. Poyer took a quick peek at the free-agent market but decided to return to the team that he has spent the last six years with. He was a first-team All-Pro in 2021 and made his first Pro Bowl in 2022 despite playing in only 12 regular season games due to injury. The 31-year-old is very attractive for his playmaking skills in IDP fantasy formats when he's healthy. Poyer had 100-plus total tackles in three straight years for the Bills from 2018-20, and he had 93 total tackles in 2021. In his 12 games in 2022, Poyer racked up 63 tackles (44 solo), four tackles for loss, four interceptions, eight passes defensed and a forced fumble during the regular season.
ESPN's Field Yates expects the Buffalo Bills to re-sign impending free-agent Pro Bowl safety Jordan Poyer this offseason. He continues to play at a high level, and both sides have been interested in a contract extension for some time. Poyer will be entering his age-32 season in 2023, so this will be his best shot at one more big contract. He had four interceptions and eight pass breakups in 12 games this year and has played a significant role in Buffalo's defensive rise recently. If Buffalo chooses to go in another direction, the first-time Pro Bowler should have plenty of interest on the open market. In addition to Poyer, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds is another impending free agent on the defensive side of the ball for Buffalo that they will probably want back.
Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer (head) was injured during Sunday's postseason meeting with the Cincinnati Bengals. The 31-year-old collided with cornerback Tre'Davious White while attempting to intercept a deep pass to Tee Higgins. Both players remained on the ground in obvious pain. As a result, Poyer went to the locker room for an evaluation, and although he doesn't have an official designation, he should be considered questionable to return. If he doesn't, he'll finish the day with six total tackles. With Poyer set for free agency this offseason, it may be the last time anyone sees him in a Bills uniform.
