Retired wide receiver Jordy Nelson, who spent 10 years with the Green Bay Packers, said he would consider coming out of retirement if the Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers asked him to come back. Nelson had 550 catches for 7,848 yards and 69 touchdowns with Rodgers from 2008 to 2017. He also hd four 1,000-yard seasons with the Packers while earning Pro Bowl honors in 2014 on the way to a Super Bowl title. Nelson will be 34 in May and Green Bay already has Davante Adams, Geronimo Allison and Equanimeous St. Brown at wideout. It's also unclear if Nelson would just sign a one-day contract with the team to retire with them.
Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson announced his retirement from football on Wednesday, according to former teammate and NFL Network analyst James Jones. The third leading receiving in Packers history played 10 seasons in professional football, accumulating 613 receptions, 8,587 yards and 72 touchdowns in 151 games played. The former second-round pick in 2008 had four 1,000-yard seasons and scored double-digit touchdowns three times. In his prime, he was one of the best receivers in point-per reception leagues while matched up with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
The Oakland Raiders released veteran wide receiver Jordy Nelson on Thursday, a source informed of the situation told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Nelson was a disappointment in his lone season in Oakland, catching 63 passes for 739 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games (14 starts). He'll turn 31 years old and can still help a team out, but Nelson's days of being fantasy relevant might be coming to an end soon. There was less of a need to keep Nelson after the Raiders added receivers Antonio Brown and Tyrell Williams this week.
Jordy Nelson Shows Consistency Despite Blowout Loss
Oakland Raiders wide receiver Jordy Nelson was able to post solid fantasy numbers to finish the season, in what was a huge loss to the Chiefs. Nelson ended with nine receptions for 78 yards but no touchdown. He closed out the season on a heater, with six or more receptions in five straight games, along with over 75 receiving yards in four of those games. He is under contract with the Raiders for next season, which hopefully, provides a bit of stability in the Raiders passing game which was inconsistent all season long.
Jordy Nelson Leads Team in Receiving Against The Broncos
Oakland Raiders wide receiver Jordy Nelson was able to come away with a strong stat line against the Broncos. Nelson ended with seven receptions for 75 yards and no touchdowns but led the team in yards and catches. Nelson now has six or more catches in four straight games, making him one of the most consistent and valuable options in the Raiders' passing offense. Next week, he will be up against the Chiefs, who he was able to dominate last time with 10 catches on 11 targets, making him a viable fantasy option in the final week of the season.
Oakland Raiders wide receiver Jordy Nelson led the team in receiving but was done so in a losing effort against the Bengals. Nelson ended with six receptions for 88 yards but was unable to find the end zone. He now has six or more receptions in three straight games, proving to be one of the best fantasy options in the offense. Nelson will be a viable WR 2 in fantasy leagues due to his PPR value and overall target market share in the past few weeks.
Jordy Nelson Makes Viable Deep Fantasy Option Versus Bengals
Oakland Raiders wide receiver Jordy Nelson is a viable fantasy option this Sunday against the Bengals. Nelson has seen 18 targets over the past two games and if you are in a deeper league and dealing with injuries, he has some PPR upside. The matchup is certainly a good one, as the Bengals come in with the 27th DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average) against the pass this season. He should be able to continue seeing this volume and turn that into solid fantasy points for a third straight week.
Oakland Raiders wide receiver Jordy Nelson was able to chip in with a modest amount of production during Sunday's win over the Steelers. Nelson finished with six catches for 48 yards but was unable to come away with a touchdown. He now has 16 receptions in the past two games, showing the upside of why they signed him this offseason. He will continue to be a large part of the passing game since the Raiders have so few reliable pass catchers.
Oakland Raiders running back Doug Martin (knee) and wide receivers Jordy Nelson (foot) and Seth Roberts (concussion) are all active for Week 14 against the Steelers. Running back C.J. Anderson is a healthy scratch after just being signed earlier this week. Martin was expected to play but is more of a touchdown-dependent RB3/flex in a game where the Raiders may be playing catch-up from the very start. Nelson was never in danger of sitting and should be heavily targeted. He has WR3 upside. Roberts will be in on three-receiver sets but hasn't been able to do much this year, even with Martavis Bryant out for the year.
Jordy Nelson Set For Solid Production Versus Steelers
Oakland Raiders wide receiver Jordy Nelson is coming off of one of his best games of the season and should be able to continue that success against the Steelers this Sunday. Nelson posted 10 receptions last week against the Chiefs, which is his highest of the season, a trend which could continue this week. The Raiders are still dealing with a ton of injuries at wide receiver and based on the fact the Steelers have the 17th DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average) against the pass, he should be able to produce fantasy value again.
