Josh Gordon News
The Kansas City Chiefs re-signed wide receiver Josh Gordon to a Reserve/Futures contract on Wednesday. The Chiefs picked Gordon up early last season when his indefinite suspension was lifted by the league, and he played in 12 games for Kansas City, catching only five of his 14 targets for 32 yards and one touchdown in the regular season. Head coach Andy Reid said that the team was looking to get the 30-year-old receiver more involved in the offense, but it just never came to be, and Gordon was stuck behind Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman, Byron Pringle and Demarcus Robinson in the receiving pecking order. Gordon will have a full offseason to better learn the offense, and he could have a bigger role in 2022, depending on whether Pringle and Robinson return in free agency.
The Kansas City Chiefs did not promote wide receiver Josh Gordon to the 53-man roster ahead of Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He will miss the AFC Championship Game and be inactive for a third consecutive contest. The 30-year-old has caught five passes for 32 yards and a touchdown over 12 games for the Chiefs in 2021. Tyreek Hill, Byron Pringle, Mecole Hardman, and Demarcus Robinson will be Kansas City's top wideouts for the AFC Championship Game while Gordon is out. His next chance to play will be in the Super Bowl if the Chiefs advance past the Bengals on Sunday.
Free-agent wide receiver Josh Gordon went unclaimed after being waived by the Kansas Chiefs on Monday. He is expected to sign with the Chiefs practice squad. The 30-year-old has caught five passes for 32 yards and a touchdown over 12 games in 2021. The Baylor product was buried on Kansas City's wide receiver depth chart behind Tyreek Hill, Byron Pringle, Mecole Hardman, and Demarcus Robinson. Gordon is not on the fantasy radar and, if promoted to the main roster, is a long shot to be productive if any of Kansas City's wide receivers were to miss time.
