Philadelphia Eagles safety Justin Evans (knee) has been designated to return from IR. The veteran safety injured his knee back in Week 5 and was subsequently placed on IR. Now that his 21-day practice has opened, the Eagles will need to activate him within the next three weeks. He began the season as a starter on defense so his return should be a welcome sight for what has been an underperforming secondary up to this point.
Justin Evans Placed On Injured Reserve, Bradley Roby Added To Roster
Philadelphia Eagles safety Justin Evans (knee) has been placed on injured reserve and cornerback Bradley Roby has been added to the 53-man roster in a corresponding move. Roby joined the Eagles' practice squad a few weeks ago and played in Week 5 against the Rams but he now will be a part of the regular 53-man roster to help shore up the banged-up Eagles secondary. Evans will be out for at least four weeks. The Eagles' D/ST still has a plus matchup against the New York Jets in Week 6, despite missing a few starters on the back end.
Philadelphia Eagles safety Justin Evans (neck) has officially been ruled out of Monday night's contest against Tampa Bay. The starting strong safety suffered a neck injury in the first half of the game and could not return. Terrell Edmunds saw more opportunities in his absence as the defense held the Buccaneers to 11 points. This defense has been banged up and not quite as dominant as the season prior, but they have been able to post some solid performances. Fantasy managers may want to keep tabs on Evans' status for Week 4 because Reed Blankenship may see increased value in IDP leagues.
Justin Evans Is Questionable To Return With Neck Injury
Philadelphia Eagles safety Justin Evans (neck) has been ruled as questionable to return to Monday night's game with a neck injury. The fourth-year Texas A&M product left the game in the first half as the team was holding on to a slim lead. Terrell Edmunds and Sydney Brown are the next two on the depth chart to see some playing time if Evans can't return. The Eagles defense has been banged up to start the season but they did get Reed Blankenship back in this contest. His status will be one to monitor especially after the game.
Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers second-rounder Justin Evans, who spent the last two years out of football while recovering from a torn Achilles, signed an undisclosed one-year deal on Monday to play safety for the New Orleans Saints, according to his agent, Kevin Conner. Evans is now healthy and ready to play, but he hasn't played in an NFL game since 2018. The 26-year-old from Texas A&M has 125 tackles (93 solo), three tackles for loss, four interceptions, eight passes defensed and a fumble recovery for a touchdown in 24 games (21 starts) in his two seasons with the Buccaneers in 2017 and 2018. It will be interesting to see what kind of role Evans can carve out in New Orleans if he's fully healthy.
