Kaleb McGary Set to Miss "Significant Time"

Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris said that right tackle Kaleb McGary (leg) will miss "significant time" and could be placed on injured reserve after injuring his leg in practice on Wednesday, per ESPN's Marc Raimondi. Atlanta signed McGary to a two-year, $30 million extension earlier this month. He's started 92 games across six seasons with Atlanta, and Pro Football Focus graded him as the 17th-best run-blocking tackle in the NFL in 2024. With backup tackle Storm Norton (ankle) set to miss six to eight weeks after undergoing ankle surgery, the Falcons now have a massive hole on the right side of their offensive line. With a left-handed quarterback in Michael Penix Jr., McGary's absence could be a major issue for the team's pass protection as well as its run game.

Kaleb McGary Agrees to Extension With Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons have agreed to terms on a two-year, $30 million contract extension with offensive tackle Kaleb McGary, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. McGary has been a mainstay on the offensive line for Atlanta since being drafted in 2019, starting 92 of 93 career games at right tackle. He has been better as a run-blocker over his career and earned a run-blocking grade of 77.6 last season by PFF, which ranked 16th among tackles. His 63.8 pass-blocking grade was more middle of the pack, but lags compared to his performance in the run game. The 30-year-old will be trusted to protect quarterback Michael Penix Jr.'s blindside this upcoming season with him being a lefty quarterback.

Falcons Getting Kaleb McGary Back

Atlanta Falcons right tackle Kaleb McGary (knee), who was listed as questionable, is officially active for the Week 17 game against the Chicago Bears. McGary had missed the last three games for the Falcons due to a right-knee injury, but his return is great news for the Falcons rushing attack with rookie first-rounder Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier. Now that McGary is back and in the starting lineup, Storm Norton will move back to the bench for Atlanta. The 28-year-old McGary had a strong 2022 season and earned himself a three-year, $34.5 million contract to stick in Atlanta.

Kaleb McGary Re-Signs With Falcons On Three-Year Deal

The Atlanta Falcons re-signed offensive tackle Kaleb McGary to a three-year, $34.5 million deal on Tuesday, according to a source. McGary will return to the Falcons after the team declined his fifth-year option last year. In a contract year in 2022, the former first-round pick lived up to his potential as a run-blocker for the Falcons. The 28-year-old will continue to be relied on as a run-blocker, and he's been very durable in his four years in the league, playing a total of 63 games, starting 62 of them.

Kaleb McGary Expected To Return To Falcons

ESPN's Field Yates thinks the Atlanta Falcons will re-sign impending free-agent offensive tackle Kaleb McGary this offseason. McGary's breakout season in 2022 in his fourth NFL campaign should net him a big payday. Atlanta's quarterback situation is a big question mark, but they'll also need to ensure that whoever is under center has a dependable line in front of him. McGary could command a contract of $12-plus million per year on the open market. The 27-year-old had his fifth-year option declined last offseason, but he really stepped up his game at the right time as the Falcons' starting right tackle.

Kaleb McGary Named Starter At Right Tackle

The Atlanta Falcons named rookie first-round pick Kaleb McGary as the starting right tackle on Tuesday. McGary split repetitions with Ty Sambrailo in the Week 1 loss to the Vikings, but McGary has won the job moving forward. Jamon Brown will now start at right guard in place of the injured Chris Lindstrom (foot). Atlanta's offensive line was a question coming into the season, and things didn't go very well for them against a strong Vikings team in Week 1. Things don't get any easier against Philadelphia's defensive front this Sunday night.

Kaleb McGary To Play In Finale

Atlanta Falcons offensive tackle Kaleb McGary (heart) will play in the preseason finale Thursday. McGary has not played this preseason after recovering from a cardiac-ablation procedure. McGary, who could start at right tackle, is a good run blocker. Running back Devonta Freeman, an RB2 in fantasy, would benefit from the run blocker's presence on the right side.

Kaleb McGary Returns

Atlanta Falcons offensive tackle Kaleb McGary (heart) returned to practice Sunday after recovering from a cardiac ablation procedure. McGary, the team's first-round pick, could start at right tackle. He is a good run blocker, but he doesn't have great lateral quickness to contain elite edge rushers. Running back Devonta Freeman would benefit from a healthy McGary. Freeman is an RB2 in fantasy.

Atlanta Takes Kaleb Mcgary At No. 31

The Atlanta Falcons traded up with the Rams and selected Washington offensive tackle Kaleb Mcgary with the No. 31 overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft. Mcgary doesn't have great length but is physical and is just a solid athlete overall. The Falcons really put an emphasis on their offensive line in the first round, which is great news for quarterback Matt Ryan and the team's running game. Mcgary could wind up playing right tackle in his rookie season in Atlanta.
