The Tennessee Titans released veteran safety Kenny Vaccaro and cornerback Malcolm Butler on Wednesday. The Vaccaro move saves the team $3.9 million in salary cap space. The 30-year-old finished the 2020 season with 83 tackles (six for loss) and a sack. Third-year safety Amani Hooker will slide into the starting lineup alongside veteran defensive back Kevin Byard in 2021. Dane Cruikshank will also be an option when the team goes to three-safety personnel packages. In his three seasons with the Titans, Vaccaro had 154 tackles, 14 passes defensed and two interceptions in 42 games. He was the 15th overall pick in 2013 by the Saints and spent his first five seasons with New Orleans.
The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with free-agent safety Kenny Vaccaro (Titans) on a four-year deal worth $26 million, a source said Monday. The deal will have at least $11.5 million in guarantees. He signed a one-year 'prove-it' deal, and did he ever, posting 58 combined tackles with two sacks, an interception and four passes defensed over 13 games. With the signing of Vaccaro, the team is expected to release safety Johnathan Cyprien when Vaccaro's four-year pact is finalized. The Titans ranked sixth in the NFL against the pass last season, allowing just 216.9 yards per game through the air. Tennessee's DST will again be a decent low-end No. 1 option in most fantasy leagues in 2019.
Tennessee Titans strong safety Kenny Vaccaro (elbow) and linebacker Wesley Woodyard (shoulder) both missed practice all week and will not play in Week 5 against the Bills. It's a downgrade for Tennessee's defense overall, but they should still be a strong fantasy play against a Buffalo offense that was shut out last week by a mediocre Packers unit. Vaccaro is looking at a two- to four-week absence.
Tennessee Titans safety Kenny Vaccaro (elbow) will be out two to four weeks after dislocating his elbow in the Week 4 win over the Eagles, according to a source. Vaccaro already has a sack and an interception early in the year. His absence over the next couple of weeks will weaken Tennessee's secondary quite a bit.
The Tennessee Titans announced on Saturday that they agreed to terms with free-agent safety Kenny Vaccaro. Vaccaro was the best safety still left on the market. The former first-rounder by the Saints has 386 tackles, eight interceptions and 7.5 sacks in his five seasons and will help the secondary after the loss of Johnathan Cyprien (knee) for the season.
Free-agent defensive back Kenny Vaccaro has drawn interest from the Dallas Cowboys, according to a source. The former New Orleans Saint is now a free agent, and the Cowboys certainly have a need at defensive back. He's set to command a fairly large contract, but he played his college ball for the University of Texas and grew up in Brownwood, Texas. It's a fit that makes sense on paper, but anything can happenin free agency.
New Orleans Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro (abdominal) underwent core surgery Tuesday, according to a source. He is expected to make a full recovery after playing through the injury for several games. Vaccaro should be fully recovered in time for training camp next summer. In 12 games this year, he had 48 total tackles, 1.5 sacks, one fumble recovery and three interceptions. New Orleans defense as a whole showed a ton of improvement in 2017, and Vaccaro's presence in the secondary makes them much better.
New Orleans Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro (groin) was placed on the Injured Reserve list Thursday as a result of a groin injury. Vaccaro has been battling the injury throughout the season, but now he appears to have played his last game in a Saints uniform. He will be a free agent this offseason and could have multiple suitors, as he played well in his eight games, intercepting three passes. While not an elite defensive player, it adds to the growing list of injuries to starters on the New Orleans defense, including LB A.J. Klein and DE Alex Okafor. The Saints defense will have their hands full with the Falcons this week and are a very iffy fantasy play.
