Cowboys Plan to Move George Pickens Around More on Offense

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said on Thursday that he is planning to move star wide receiver George Pickens around the formation more in 2026, per the team's official website. Pickens was absent from organized team activities in the spring after failing to reach a long-term contract extension with the organization, but he is present this week for mandatory minicamp. The 25-year-old former second-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022 out of the University of Georgia broke out in 2025 after the Dallas Cowboys acquired him from Pittsburgh, catching 93 passes for a career-high 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns on 137 targets in 17 games (15 starts). The vast majority of Pickens' snaps in 2025 in his first year in Dallas came out wide, but it sounds like he could spend more time inside in the slot in Year 2 in Big D, which should help the Cowboys create more mismatches for the big-play threat. Even with CeeDee Lamb commanding a high target share, the Cowboys should continue to throw the ball enough under Schottenheimer to make Pickens a legitimate WR1 again in fantasy in 2026.

CeeDee Lamb Remains a Worthy Trade Target for Dynasty Contenders

Relative to his own lofty standards, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb had a down year in 2025. The 27-year-old missed three games with an ankle injury and finished the year with 75 receptions for 1,077 yards and three touchdowns on 117 targets. After averaging over 10 targets per game in 2024, Lamb saw his targets decrease to 8.4 per game in 2025. Part of the reason for the decline was the emergence of fellow Cowboys wideout George Pickens. However, Lamb's efficiency went up in terms of both yards per reception and yards per target while sharing the field with a vertical threat like Pickens in 2025. With better health, Lamb could re-emerge as a dominant force in the short and intermediate areas of the field. Pickens is also playing the 2026 season on the franchise tag and remains without a long-term extension from Dallas. Even if Pickens' presence is a real impediment to Lamb's production, his long-term dynasty outlook is unchanged until Pickens extends with the Cowboys.

Michael Trigg an Under-the-Radar Dynasty Stash or Taxi Squad Candidate

In a year that saw 22 tight ends selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, Baylor's Michael Trigg was not one of the players to hear his name called, and he ultimately signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent. Finishing second in the nation with 694 receiving yards from the tight end position and landing in the top five with his six touchdown grabs, talent has never been a concern for Trigg, but off-field issues are what led him to go undrafted. While the Cowboys organization has a checkered history of character concerns, that reputation has improved immensely in recent years, and if Trigg can keep things focused on football, he could earn his way onto the roster. Dallas is already deep at the position with Jake Ferguson and dedicated blockers Luke Schoonmaker and Brevyn Spann-Ford, but in a league trending toward heavier 12 and 13-personnel usage, it should come as no surprise if more teams start keeping four tight ends on the roster. Trigg offers a receiving element that neither Schoonmaker nor Spann-Ford would be able to provide should Ferguson miss extended time, and while he'll first need to make the team, RotoBaller's dynasty TE42 could ultimately prove to be a taxi squad stash with long-term fantasy upside.

Javonte Williams  • RB  •  Cowboys

Javonte Williams is a Pricey Dynasty Trade Target

Dallas Cowboys running back Javonte Williams is coming off a career year this past season. He was an inconsistent option during his first four seasons in Denver, but he took a huge leap forward last season. Williams rushed for 1,201 yards on 252 carries with 11 touchdowns across 16 games with the Cowboys. Williams finished as the RB11, but slots in as the RB21 in the Rotoballer rankings. Williams should once again be the workhorse back in Dallas, but past injuries make it tough to trust him as a long-term option. This past season was the first time that Williams has started 16 games in a single season. He's locked into a long-term deal in Dallas and is expected to remain the lead back going forward. There's RB1 upside here, but can Williams replicate his 1,200-yard campaign, or is it only downhill from here? Dynasty managers could be on the hook for paying top dollar for a running back who only has one year of elite production.

Zamir White  • RB  •  Cowboys

Zamir White Works Out for the Cowboys

Free-agent running back Zamir White worked out for the Dallas Cowboys in recent days, a source told Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. The Cowboys are exploring help at the position in June. Fowler also reported that White recently worked out for the Miami Dolphins. The former fourth-rounder in 2022 out of the University of Georgia by the Las Vegas Raiders spent the first four years of his NFL career in Sin City, handling 198 carries for 736 yards (3.7 yards per tote) and two touchdowns in 45 games (nine starts). He added 25 catches on 33 targets for 152 receiving yards. The 26-year-old is expected to work out for more teams as training camp approaches this summer. In Dallas, Javonte Williams is the Cowboys' clear lead back after breaking out in 2025 in his first year with the club. Behind him, the team currently has very little experience with Jaydon Blue, Phil Mafah, Malik Davis, and Israel Ibanikanda.

George Pickens Won't Hold Out During Training Camp

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens confirmed that he won't hold out during training camp. Pickens didn't attend voluntary OTAs while he continues to seek a long-term extension. Pickens has ended his holdout and officially signed his $27.3 million franchise tender for the upcoming season. He will play on the franchise tag with no long-term extension in sight. Pickens could very well be headed elsewhere next season, but he's ready to help the Cowboys until then. Last season, Pickens finished with 93 receptions, 1,429 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns. He's expected to get a hefty payday, whether it's in Dallas or somewhere else next season.

Dak Prescott to be Limited in Minicamp With "Sore Knee"

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said on Tuesday that quarterback Dak Prescott (knee) will be limited at mandatory minicamp this week with a "sore knee," according to Tommy Yarrish of the team's official website. However, Schottenheimer added that it's "nothing we're concerned about." The Cowboys aren't going to push their star QB during minicamp. The 32-year-old veteran should be all systems go for the start of training camp at the end of July, but we'll be keeping a close eye on his knee anyway. Going into his 11th year in the NFL, the four-time Pro Bowler will be a low-end QB1 target for fantasy managers after throwing for 4,552 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in 17 starts for the Cowboys in 2025. Prescott's lack of mobility as a rusher limits his overall fantasy ceiling, but he has one of the best one-two punches in the league at receiver in CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens to make up for it in one of the most pass-friendly offenses in the league. RotoBaller has Prescott ranked as the No. 10 fantasy QB for the 2026 season.

George Pickens Won't Take Part in Team Drills at Minicamp

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer said that wide receiver George Pickens won't do everything during the first day of mandatory minicamp on Tuesday and will not participate in team drills, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic. "Great visits with George. He's fired up to be back," Schottenheimer said on Tuesday. The 25-year-old will play under the one-year, $27.3 million franchise tag in 2026. Pickens was absent from organized team activities this spring as he seeks a long-term contract extension, and he won't do everything this week at minicamp. He should be a full-go for the start of training camp at the end of July, though, as he heads into his second year in Dallas. Pickens led the team with career highs in catches (93), targets (137), receiving yards (1,429), and touchdowns (nine) in 2025 in his first year with the Cowboys in their pass-happy offense. Even though CeeDee Lamb commands a high number of targets, Pickens will have his chances at a repeat in 2026 with Schottenheimer still running the offense. Pickens will be expensive early in fantasy drafts this fall as a legitimate WR1.

George Pickens Reports to Cowboys Ahead of Minicamp

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens reported to the team's facilities on Monday to take his physical before mandatory minicamp kicks off on Tuesday, a source told Jon Machota of The Athletic. Pickens did not attend organized team activities, but he is expected to participate in minicamp from Tuesday through Thursday of this week. The 25-year-old will play on the one-year, $27.3 million franchise tag in 2026 after having a career year in 2025 in his first year with the Cowboys, when he caught 93 of his 137 targets for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns in 17 games (15 starts). The former second-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022 out of the University of Georgia outproduced CeeDee Lamb and is one of the best big-play wideouts in the NFL. Pickens doesn't come without some diva qualities, though, and the Cowboys apparently want to see him run it back this year before seriously considering giving him a long-term contract extension. After his monstrous year as the WR5 in half-PPR scoring, Pickens is a clear top-10 fantasy target at his position going into his fifth year in the NFL.

Ryan Flournoy  • WR  •  Cowboys

Ryan Flournoy a Dynasty Stash with Little Standalone Value

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Ryan Flournoy showed sporadic flashes in his second season but remains little more than an end-of-bench dynasty stash. Across 15 games in 2025, he accumulated 475 receiving yards, but almost half of that came in two games: the first with CeeDee Lamb sidelined with a high-ankle sprain and the other in a wild primetime affair with the Lions that saw 74 total points scored and Dak Prescott dropping back to throw more than 50 times. Across 13 other contests, Flournoy averaged less than 19 yards per game while adding three touchdowns. Should Lamb or George Pickens miss extended time moving forward, the most obvious benefactor will continue to be tight end Jake Ferguson, but even as a third option in such a scenario, Flournoy could see enough opportunity in a high-powered Cowboys offense to make him fantasy viable as the occasional injury replacement or bye week fill-in. At RotoBaller's dynasty WR121, the 26-year-old Flournoy is by no means a must-roster player, but in shallower leagues, he should be floated in trade conversations before being viewed as an outright drop candidate.

Jake Ferguson  • TE  •  Cowboys

Should Dynasty Managers Be Looking to Sell High on Jake Ferguson?

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson took on a high-volume role in his team's offense in 2025, finishing the year with 82 catches for 600 yards and eight touchdowns on 102 targets across 17 games. However, a significant chunk of Ferguson's production came in the four games where star Cowboys wideout CeeDee Lamb was either sidelined or forced to exit early due to injury. Across the 13 games where Ferguson shared the field with Lamb, he averaged 5.3 targets and four receptions per game. The 27-year-old needs a high volume of targets to be productive for fantasy managers, as he's averaged under six yards per target in each of the last two seasons. Ferguson's 2026 spike in red zone production may not be sustainable either, as he failed to record a single touchdown grab across 14 games in 2024. With the Cowboys' star wide receiver duo of Lamb and George Pickens likely to demand a significant chunk of the team's targets in 2026, dynasty managers may want to explore selling high on Ferguson.

Dak Prescott  • QB  •  Cowboys

Dak Prescott Showing No Signs of Slowing Down

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has finished as the QB10 or better in six of the seven seasons in which he's played at least 16 games, with his only sub-QB1 season coming in 2018 in the form of a QB14 finish. While he has missed extended time in three of the past six seasons, when healthy, Prescott is one of the most consistent fantasy quarterbacks. Heading into 2026 with what again projects to be one of the league's highest scoring offenses, another top 10 season is very much in the cards, but at RotoBaller's dynasty QB14, Prescott remains criminally underrated. At almost 33 years old, he is closer to the end than the beginning, but with no signs of slowing for anything other than injury, he is a high-ceiling trade target who could still deliver a handful of league-winning seasons.

CeeDee Lamb  • WR  •  Cowboys

Is CeeDee Lamb Currently Undervalued in Dynasty Formats?

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb saw a decline in his production in 2025, missing three games with an ankle injury and finishing the year with 75 catches for 1,077 yards and three touchdowns on 117 targets. After averaging 10.1 targets per game in 2024, Lamb saw 8.4 targets per game in his first season playing alongside Cowboys wideout George Pickens in 2025. While Pickens' presence could limit Lamb's target upside again in 2026, improved health from Lamb could be the difference in him bouncing back this upcoming season. Additionally, Pickens' long-term future in Dallas is an open question, given that he is currently signed to the franchise tag and is agitating for a contract extension. Lamb is still valued as a WR1 in the majority of dynasty formats, but his stock has fallen a bit after his underwhelming 2025 campaign. As he enters his age-27 season, Lamb should have every opportunity to re-establish himself as one of the elite wide receivers in fantasy football. Fantasy managers should explore buy-low scenarios for Lamb to see if they can acquire him for a relative bargain ahead of 2026.

Michael Trigg  • TE  •  Cowboys

Is Michael Trigg Worthy of a Dynasty Roster Spot?

Despite posting impressive testing metrics at the Scouting Combine, Dallas Cowboys tight end Michael Trigg did not hear his name called at the 2026 NFL Draft. The 23-year-old was productive in his final collegiate season at Baylor, recording 50 catches for 694 yards and six touchdowns across 11 games. However, he faces an uphill battle for a roster spot in Dallas. Cowboys tight ends Jake Ferguson, Luke Schoonmaker, and Brevyn Spann-Ford are all likely assured of roster spots, leaving Trigg fighting for the TE4 role with Princeton Fant and DJ Rogers. If Trigg can catch on in Dallas, his athleticism provides him with some long-term upside for dynasty managers. Still, the Cowboys' crowded tight end depth chart may make it difficult for Trigg to earn fantasy-relevant playing time at any point in the foreseeable future. RotoBaller currently ranks Trigg as the 42nd-best tight end in dynasty formats.

Javonte Williams  • RB  •  Cowboys

Javonte Williams a Mispriced Dynasty Trade Target

Dallas Cowboys running back Javonte Williams was the fantasy RB11 in 2025, with his 54 missed tackles forced ranking seventh in the league and reminding dynasty managers of the elite tackle-breaking ability he demonstrated throughout his collegiate career and as a second-round rookie in 2021. Now more than three seasons removed from the devastating knee injury that ended his sophomore campaign, Williams seems to have regained the balance and burst that had him ranked as highly as the RB2 in consensus dynasty rankings, and entering his second season in what looks to be another high-powered Dallas offense, he boasts legitimate league-winning potential. With the arduous injury recovery clouding so much of his fantasy profile over the past few seasons, Williams has become one of the more undervalued backs in dynasty, slotting in at RB21 in RotoBaller's latest rankings, but still only 26 years old and under contract through the 2028 season, he could realistically provide several more years of RB1 upside.

Jaydon Blue  • RB  •  Cowboys

Jaydon Blue a Dynasty Buy-Low Candidate After Underwhelming Rookie Year?

A fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Dallas Cowboys running back Jaydon Blue spent most of his rookie season as a healthy scratch on game days. The 22-year-old appeared in just five games and finished the year with 134 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on 34 touches, about half of which came in a meaningless Week 18 game. Veteran back Javonte Williams dominated backfield work for Dallas in 2025, and he's back in place as the team's RB1 heading into 2026. However, the team did not make any notable additions to its backfield in either free agency or the NFL Draft. As a result, Blue looks to be competing with Malik Davis, Phil Mafah, and Israel Abanikanda for the Cowboys RB2 role. While Blue did little to inspire confidence in fantasy managers as a rookie, he may still be worth buying low on in dynasty formats ahead of a potential year two breakout.

Brian Schottenheimer Expects George Pickens to Return for Mandatory Minicamp

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer confirms that wide receiver George Pickens hasn't been in the building this week for OTAs, but he continues to be in communication with him and expects Pickens to be present when mandatory minicamp starts on June 16, according to Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The 25-year-old will make $27.3 million in 2026 on the franchise tag, and the Cowboys have already ruled out the two sides agreeing on a long-term contract extension before the deadline to get a deal done in July. The former second-rounder by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2022 out of the University of Georgia broke out for a career year after the Steelers traded him to Dallas in 2025, catching 93 of his 137 targets for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns in 17 starts. The Cowboys want to see him do it again, though, before getting serious about an extension beyond this year. It won't be easy to do with CeeDee Lamb demanding heavy volume, but Dallas has the pass-happy offense under Schottenheimer for Pickens to have a very high ceiling in his fifth year in the league. Fantasy managers should target him as a low-end WR1 in upcoming 2026 drafts.

Malik Davis  • RB  •  Cowboys

Malik Davis Appears to be the Front-Runner for RB2 Job in Dallas

Tommy Yarrish of the Dallas Cowboys' official website writes that running back Malik Davis "appears to be the front-runner" for the RB2 job again for the time being. As the RB2 in 2025 in his third year in the NFL, Davis saw a career-high 52 carries for 250 yards (4.8 yards per carry) and two rushing touchdowns, adding only two catches for 16 yards in 10 games (zero starts). The Cowboys signed RB1 Javonte Williams to a three-year, $24 million contract extension in late February, so Davis is stuck behind him for the foreseeable future in Dallas. Williams led the Cowboys with 252 carries and 1,201 rushing yards last year. In addition to Davis, the Cowboys have Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah in their RB room that could compete for RB2 duties this summer. Blue needs to show more consistency, and Mafah was on Injured Reserve for most of his rookie campaign. At best, Davis will enter the 2026 season as a deep-league handcuff for those who have Williams rostered. He's outside of RotoBaller's top-100 RB rankings currently.

Ryan Flournoy  • WR  •  Cowboys

Ryan Flournoy an Intriguing Dynasty Stash Option

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Ryan Flournoy was a surprisingly solid contributor this past season. It's never easy to make a consistent impact when CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens are ahead of you on the depth chart. Due to some health problems, Flournoy was pushed into a larger role at times this past season. He made the most of it with 40 receptions, 475 receiving yards, and four touchdowns across 16 games. That's a decent year for a sixth-round pick who is stuck behind two stud wideouts on the depth chart. The fact that Flournoy is the WR3 is going to limit his overall ceiling heading into the 2026 season. He's not a great redraft option, but he is an intriguing dynasty stash right now. Pickens is currently playing under the franchise tag and remains without a long-term deal. He could be gone after the season or sooner, which in theory would open up more playing time and a bigger role for Flournoy in this offense.

Jake Ferguson  • TE  •  Cowboys

Jake Ferguson's Insurance Upside Makes Him a Borderline TE1 in Dynasty

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson took advantage of an early-season opportunity to finish as the TE8 in half-PPR formats in 2025. With five-time Pro Bowler CeeDee Lamb missing meaningful time with a high-ankle sprain, Ferguson's 13.6 fantasy points per game through Week 7 were enough to make him the TE1 to that point. Unfortunately, with Lamb returning to health and George Pickens experiencing a true fourth-year breakout, Ferguson was unable to sustain that pace down the stretch, finishing as the TE22 over the final 11 weeks of the season. With the Cowboys deploying 11 personnel at one of the league's highest rates, and the team capable of trotting out two bona fide Alphas even in two-receiver sets, Ferguson's ceiling will always be capped in a fully healthy Dallas offense, though the same is true for all but the truly elite tight end talents around the NFL. Ferguson's advantage comes in running with one of the most high-powered offenses in the league while providing injury insurance to not just one, but two capable target-earners. Having already shown his ability to win weeks when called upon, the 27-year-old Ferguson comes into 2026 as RotoBaller's dynasty TE13.
