Former New York Jets tight end Kenny Yeboah signed an undisclosed one-year deal with the Detroit Lions on Friday, according to the Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett. Yeboah heads to the NFC after spending the first four years of his career with the Jets, where he posted only nine receptions on 15 targets for 111 yards and one touchdown in 33 games played (two starts). The 26-year-old originally went undrafted out of Mississippi before joining the Jets for his rookie year in 2021. As things currently stand early in the offseason, Yeboah is third on the Lions' tight end depth chart behind Sam LaPorta and Brock Wright. Yeboah's best season did come last year in which he caught five of eight targets for 47 yards and his first career touchdown, but he will most likely continue to work as a special-teamer in 2025 in his new home in Detroit.
Jeremy Ruckert, Kenny Yeboah To Be "Heavily Involved" In Jets Offense
New York Jets tight ends Jeremy Ruckert and Kenny Yeboah caught a combined 18 passes for 179 yards and no touchdowns last season, but Jets reporter Robby Sabo expects them both to be "heavily involved" in the offense behind starter Tyler Conklin. "The reason they sent Uzomah packing and did not add to the TE room is due to the Jets' comfort with both players," Sabo wrote. While Conklin should be the clear target leader at the position, Ruckert or Yeboah could earn targets early in the season while Mike Williams (knee) recovers from his early-season ACL tear and rookie Malachi Corley gets comfortable in the offense. While neither player is worth drafting in most formats, they've been impressive at OTAs and should be monitored in deep tight-end premium setups.
New York Jets tight end Kenny Yeboah hauled in both of his targets for 23 receiving yards and a touchdown in the team's preseason victory over the Carolina Panthers on Saturday. Yeboah scored on a two-yard pass from quarterback Zach Wilson late in the first half. The 24-year-old is entering his third professional season and has just two career receptions to this point. He has reportedly impressed in training camp and could push for opportunities in a crowded but uncertain tight end room that also features Tyler Conklin, C.J. Uzomah, Jeremy Ruckert (shoulder), and rookie Zack Kuntz. Conklin is the best bet to make an impact this season, but fantasy managers should look elsewhere for reliable production.
New York Jets tight end Kenny Yeboah posted the best receiving game of anyone on the roster during Friday's preseason finale versus the Philadelphia Eagles. Yeboah hauled in four receptions for 100 yards and two touchdowns in what ended up being a tie game. He entered this game with two receptions for six yards in the preseason. Fantasy managers shouldn't get carried away by the stats from this game. Yeboah was facing the third-string Eagles defense. He is buried on the Jets depth chart, but this game might be enough to keep him on the 53-man roster. Regardless, he won't be worth adding in almost any fantasy format.
