The Green Bay Packers released wide receiver Amari Rodgers and running back Kylin Hill on Tuesday. Rodgers lost a fumble during a punt return in the Week 10 overtime win over the Dallas Cowboys and played just six offensive snaps despite the team's injuries at the position. Rodgers' release is a sign that veteran slot man Randall Cobb (ankle) could return from Injured Reserve in time to play on Thursday night against the Tennessee Titans. The 23-year-old Rodgers had four catches on eight targets for 50 yards in 10 games this year. Hill was returning from a torn ACL this year and played in just two games, carrying the ball one time for a seven-yard gain in Week 9. There's a chance that the Packers bring both players back to the practice squad if they clear waivers.
Green Bay Packers running back Kylin Hill (knee) suffered a season-ending knee injury after colliding with Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Ward during a kick return in Thursday's win. The 23-year-old finishes the season with 23 rushing yards on 10 attempts and caught one pass for five yards over seven games in 2021. Hill mainly played special teams and was the team's third running back behind Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. The Packers rookie will rehab and focus on getting healthy for the 2022 season.
Green Bay Packers running back Kylin Hill was carted off the field with an apparent knee injury during the third quarter of Thursday's game against the Cardinals. Hill was injured on a kickoff return. Amari Rodgers would see more opportunities as a kick returner if Hill misses time. As for the running back position, Hill is a pretty distant third on the depth chart, with just 10 carries for 24 yards on the season. His absence would require the Packers to make some kind of move at running back, but that move would be unlikely to impact things when it comes to fantasy.
Green Bay Packers running back Kylin Hill carried the ball seven times for 29 yards with one touchdown in the Packers second preseason game against the Jets. Hill added 11 receiving yards in the game and continues to make plays. Hill hit the edge with authority, turning up field and bowling through Jets defenders for a touchdown in the first half. The Packers are happy and set with Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon but Hill is making a case to see some snaps when the regular season begins.
Green Bay Packers running back Kylin Hill is trying to learn on the fly and impress the coaching staff at the same time in camp. The seventh-round draft pick from this year's draft is hoping to bring elusiveness and a change-of-pace speed to the Packers backfield. Running backs coach Ben Sirmans praised the rookie, saying, "He's put himself in great position. I think the more we put him in situations maybe even going against people's top players to really gauge him even more. He's got really good instincts. He's got really good quickness and very explosive cutting ability, and I think the biggest thing with him is he knows how to use those things at the right time." Hill is not expected to help right out of the gate unless there is injuries to the running back room.
Green Bay Packers running back Kylin Hill is vying for a role in the team's backfield. Hill currently has the edge over camp teammates Patrick Taylor and Dexter Williams because of his pass-catching ability. Hill also can be utilized in the kick returning game, bringing the type of speed that fits right in as a change-of-pace back. That speed was on display in the first preseason game, catching a dump-off pass from backup quarterback Jordan Love and quickly turning it into a 22-yard gain. If Hill can stay healthy and take care of the football, he has the inside track to become the RB3 on the team.
With the 256th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers have selected Mississippi State running back Kylin Hill. It's a little shocking to see Hill fall this far, as he was a well-regarded running back prospect. In theory, he can add a needed pass-catching element to the Packers backfield, but with Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon ahead of him, Hill might struggle to actually get snaps. He can be productive if he gets a chance, but 2021 might just end up being a learning year for him.
