Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Amari Rodgers has been signed off the practice squad to the team's active roster. The third-year wideout is unlikely to make an impact as a receiver behind Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs, Alec Pierce, and Isaiah McKenzie so this appears to be a special teams/depth move for the Colts. The 24-year-old has just 20 catches for 249 yards and one score over 32 career games between the Packers and the Texans.
Free-agent wide receiver Amari Rodgers signed with the Colts, the team announced on Wednesday. The 2021 third-round pick was recently waived by Houston and went unclaimed off waivers. He hasn't done much during his career, totaling 20 catches for 249 yards and one touchdown in 32 games. Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce are expected to be the top wideouts in Indy this season. Although Rodgers could work his way into the mix, it's unlikely, meaning he won't see much attention from fantasy managers heading into the 2023-24 campaign.
The Houston Texans released wide receiver Amari Rodgers on Sunday. The 23-year-old made a slight impact late in 2022 with the Texans, ultimately cobbling together 12 receptions, 154 receiving yards, and one touchdown over six games with the team. Rodgers looks for a chance to latch on to another receiver-needy squad before the regular season begins, perhaps even as a kick returner. The move solidifies Nico Collins, Robert Woods, and John Metchie III as Houston's starters in three-receiver sets in 2023.
Houston Texans wide receiver Amari Rodgers remained involved in the 31-3 blowout loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 17 on Sunday. Rodgers caught both of his targets for 12 yards and also saw one carry for a four-yard gain. While it wasn't much, he continues to be involved in the passing attack with Nico Collins (foot) out for the season. In his five games with Houston after being released by the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers has nine receptions on 13 targets for 132 yards and one touchdown. The 23-year-old could continue to have a role going into the 2023 season for the rebuilding Texans, but he should be off the fantasy radar going into the final game of the season in Week 18 in a meaningless contest against the Indianapolis Colts.
Houston Texans wide receiver Amari Rodgers caught four passes for 57 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss to the Dallas Cowboys. His five targets were second on the team behind Chris Moore. Rodgers had played just 17 offensive snaps his joining the Texans coming into this one, but the team was down two key receivers in Brandin Cooks and Nico Collins. Rodgers would be an intriguing DFS play if Cooks and Collins miss more time, but this isn't the time of year for managers in season-long leagues to be taking a risk on a player who has barely seen the field.
The Houston Texans are expected to have wide receiver Amari Rodgers active again in Week 14 against the Dallas Cowboys with both Brandin Cooks (calf) and Nico Collins (foot) out. Rodgers didn't have any touches or targets in last week's loss to the Cleveland Browns, but that could change this week. The Texans will lean on Chris Moore and Phillip Dorsett in the passing game. Moore has 27 catches for 314 yards and two touchdowns this year, while Dorsett has 12 catches for 180 yards and one TD on 27 targets. The 23-year-old Rodgers only played 17 offensive snaps in Week 13, but he should have a bigger role this week, although it doesn't mean he should be considered for a flex spot in starting fantasy lineups.
The Green Bay Packers released wide receiver Amari Rodgers and running back Kylin Hill on Tuesday. Rodgers lost a fumble during a punt return in the Week 10 overtime win over the Dallas Cowboys and played just six offensive snaps despite the team's injuries at the position. Rodgers' release is a sign that veteran slot man Randall Cobb (ankle) could return from Injured Reserve in time to play on Thursday night against the Tennessee Titans. The 23-year-old Rodgers had four catches on eight targets for 50 yards in 10 games this year. Hill was returning from a torn ACL this year and played in just two games, carrying the ball one time for a seven-yard gain in Week 9. There's a chance that the Packers bring both players back to the practice squad if they clear waivers.
Amari Rodgers, David Bakhtiari Officially Active Sunday
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Amari Rodgers (hamstring) and tackle David Bakhtiari (knee) are active for Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys. Both players had been listed as questionable. Rodgers has caught just four passes for 50 yards this season but could see increased volume with Romeo Doubs (ankle) out. Meanwhile, the presence of Bakhtiari will be huge for the Packers' rushing attack.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Amari Rodgers (quadriceps) and left tackle David Bakhtiari (knee) are listed as questionable for Week 10 against the Dallas Cowboys. Rookie receiver Romeo Doubs (ankle) was also ruled out, and veteran Randall Cobb (ankle) remains on Injured Reserve, so the Packers will be short-handed at receiver again this weekend. Even if Rodgers is able to play on Sunday, he'll be behind Allen Lazard, Sammy Watkins and rookies Christian Watson and Samori Toure in the receiving pecking order. The 23-year-old has caught just four of his eight targets for 50 yards and no touchdowns in nine games in his second NFL season. If Bakhtiari can't play, it will be more bad news for quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Amari Rodgers Catches Just Two Passes Against Commanders
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Amari Rodgers caught two of his three targets for 14 yards in the Week 7 loss to the Washington Commanders. Rodgers didn't see his first target of the year until last week, and he now has three catches on four targets for 28 yards in seven games played in his second season with Green Bay. The 23-year-old has played over 30 percent of the offensive snaps the last two weeks with rookie Christian Watson (hamstring) and Randall Cobb (ankle) injured. That could continue for however long they are both out, but Rodgers is still well off the fantasy radar with Allen Lazard, Sammy Watkins and rookie Romeo Doubs ahead of him on the receiver depth chart.
