Larry Ogunjobi, Michael Hoecht Both Facing Six-Game PED Suspensions

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane said that both defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi and defensive end Michael Hoecht will face six-game suspensions to begin the 2025 season for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy. Beane said the Bills knew about Hoecht when they signed him as a free agent, but they were unaware of Ogunjobi's pending suspension when they signed him this week. Buffalo inked Ogunjobi to a one-year, $8.3 million deal and signed Hoecht to a three-year deal in free agency. In addition to Ogunjobi and Hoecht, the Bills also added Pro Bowl pass-rusher Joey Bosa in free agency after he was cut by the Los Angeles Chargers to help replace Von Miller, who the Bills cut right before the start of the new league year. The team will be hoping Bosa, Greg Rousseau, Ed Oliver and others can step up early in the year with Ogunjobi and Hoecht facing lengthy suspensions.

Larry Ogunjobi Heading To Buffalo

The NFL's Ian Rapoport reports that the Buffalo Bills are signing former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi on a one-year, $8.3 million deal with $8 million guaranteed. The agreement has a maximum value of $10 million, including incentives. The eighth-year pro is finally leaving the AFC North, as he also spent one season in Cincinnati after being selected by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Ogunjobi ranked fifth in snaps across Pittsburgh's entire defensive front a season ago, registering 41 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 15 games of work. Buffalo allowed 117.7 rushing yards per contest in 2024 (13th-fewest), and it appears they're looking to improve upon that metric in 2025 as the 30-year-old joins newly-signed defensive ends Joey Bosa and Michael Hoecht on the Bills' roster.

Steelers Release Larry Ogunjobi

The Pittsburgh Steelers released defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi on Monday, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. This one doesn't come as a big surprise after Ogunjobi saw his role decrease on the interior of Pittsburgh's defensive line in 2024. The 30-year-old veteran played in 15 regular-season games (12 starts) and finished with 41 tackles (16 solo), 1.5 sacks, five tackles for loss and seven QB hits in 2024 in his third season with the team. He'll turn 31 this year, but Ogunjobi should still have plenty of suitors on the free-agent market after accumulating 40-plus tackles in each of the last seven seasons. Ogunjobi was taken in the third round (65th overall) by the Cleveland Browns in 2017 out of Charlotte and spent the first four years of his career in Cleveland before a one-year stop in Cincinnati. He has spent all eight of his NFL campaigns in the AFC North.

Steelers Could Be Looking To Replace Larry Ogunjobi

The Pittsburgh Steelers are scheduled to have the NFL's highest-paid defensive for the fourth straight season in 2025 but can save $7 million of defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi's $10 million salary cap hit by cutting him this offseason, according to The Athletic's Mike DeFabo. Since joining the Steelers in 2022, Ogunjobi has only reached double digits in QB hits once while also playing through multiple injuries. It's a stark contract to him recording double-digit tackles for loss and QB hits in three of his first five seasons in the NFL before heading to the Steel City. DeFabo thinks that regardless of whether the Steelers actually cut Ogunjob, they'll be targeting a younger, less-expensive defensive lineman early in the 2025 NFL draft. The 30-year-old Ogunjobi missed two games with a groin injury in 2024 and finished with 41 tackles (16 solo), 1.5 sacks, five tackles for loss and seven QB hits in 15 games (12 starts).

Larry Ogunjobi Inactive In Week 16

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi (groin) is inactive for Saturday's divisional tilt against the Baltimore Ravens. Ogunjobi has been sidelined since suffering this groin injury during their Week 14 victory over the Cleveland Browns. He will now miss his second-straight contest and set his signs on returning in Week 17 to face the Kansas City Chiefs. During the first 12 games of the season, the 30-year-old tallied 35 tackles (14 solo) with 21 assists and 1.5 sacks while operating as the starting member of the defensive line. This afternoon, fantasy managers should expect Montravius Adams to continue to see an uptick in snaps.

Larry Ogunjobi Re-Ups With Steelers

Free-agent defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi re-signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday on a three-year deal that will pay him $21.75 million in the first two years of the deal, according to a source. The 28-year-old played his first season with the Steelers in 2022 and finished with 48 tackles (25 solo), 1.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss and 11 QB hits in 16 starts. He played only 615 defensive snaps, which is a big reason why he went from a career-high seven sacks in 2021 with the Cincinnati Bengals to just 1.5 in 2022. In what will likely be a rotational role on the defensive line again in 2023 with Pittsburgh, Ogunjobi can be ignored in IDP fantasy leagues.

Larry Ogunjobi Upgraded To Questionable

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi (toe) has been upgraded to questionable for the Week 17 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. The former third round pick is dealing with a toe issue, but has played in every game since Week 10. The expectation is that he'll be able to suit up for this contest. That is good news as Ogunjobi will be a key factor in attempting to slow down the Ravens running game. He has 43 tackles, six tackles for loss, and 0.5 sacks through 14 games this season.

Larry Ogunjobi Signs With Steelers

Former Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi signed an undisclosed one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday, according to a source. Ogunjobi will have now played for the Cleveland Browns, the Bengals and the Steelers in the AFC North. The 28-year-old pass-rusher had a career-high seven sacks while adding 49 tackles (29 solo), 12 tackles for loss and 16 QB hits in 16 starts for Cincinnati last year, and he'll be a starting-caliber run defender in the middle for the Steelers this year. Ogunjobi signed a three-year, $40.5 million deal with the Chicago Bears in free agency, but the deal was nullified after he failed a physical.

Larry Ogunjobi Visiting With Steelers

Former Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi, who recorded seven sacks last year, is visiting with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday, according to a source. Ogunjobi recently visited with the New York Jets in early May. The 28-year-old signed a three-year, $40.5 million deal with the Chicago Bears this offseason, but it fell apart after a failed physical. Ogunjobi had surgery on his right foot, so he'll need to prove that he's past that in order for another team to take a chance on him. When he's healthy, he's a starting-caliber run-stopper who also had 49 tackles (29 solo), 12 tackles for loss and 16 QB hits to go along with his career-high seven sacks in 16 starts for the Bengals in the regular season in 2021.

Larry Ogunjobi Visits With Jets

Former Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi spent the last two days visiting with the New York Jets, according to a source. Ogunjobi reportedly signed a three-year, $40.5 million deal with the Chicago Bears earlier this offseason, but the deal fell through due to a failed physical related to an ongoing issue with his surgically repaired right foot. The 27-year-old picked up the injury in the wild-card win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Ogunjobi might be in better health now as he looks to ink another deal with a team, and it's possible that the Bears may have interest in revisiting him if he can pass a physical. In 16 regular season starts for Cincy last year, Ogunjobi had 49 tackles (29 solo), 12 tackles for loss, 16 QB hits and a career-high seven sacks.
