Lorenzo Carter News
New York Giants pass-rusher Lorenzo Carter is expected to sign an undisclosed one-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons on Monday, according to a source. Carter registered five sacks in his last four games, so the Falcons are hoping he can pick up where he left off in 2022. The 26-year-old was drafted by the Giants in the third round in 2018 out of Georgia, and he has 153 tackles (94 solo), 21 tackles for loss, 35 QB hits, one interception, 15 passes defensed, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 14.5 sacks in his four seasons in New York. Carter also had 50 tackles (28 solo), six tackles for loss, eight QB hits, one interception, five passes defensed, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 14 starts in 2021.
New York Giants outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter (Achilles) will miss the rest of the season after he suffered a ruptured Achilles in the Week 5 loss to the Cowboys. Carter was carted off the field on Sunday and will undergo surgery later this week. He's expected to be back for next season. Entering Week 5, Carter had 14 tackles and one sack and led the team with nine QB pressures in the first four weeks, according to Next Gen Stats. He was tied for the team lead with four QB hits. It's a big loss, as Carter had been playing 89 percent of the team's defensive snaps prior to his injury. Markus Golden took most of the snaps in Carter's place on Sunday, and he's expected to have a bigger role moving forward, with rookies Carter Coughlin and Cam Brown also in the mix. Continue to ignore the Giants Defense in fantasy.
New York Giants linebacker/defensive lineman Lorenzo Carter has huge shoes to fill in 2019, as the second-year pro inherits the snaps of Olivier Vernon (traded to the Cleveland Browns). Vernon played 86 percent of the team's defensive snaps in his 11 healthy starts in 2018. "It doesn't matter what happened in the offseason with players or whatever. Coming into year two for me is big," Carter said. The team also added Markus Golden via free agency and Oshane Ximines in the draft to help continue improving the pass rush. The Giants should be treated as more of a low-end No. 2 DST heading into 2019 in most fantasy formats.
