Marcedes Lewis Elevated to Active Roster for Week 9

Denver Broncos tight end Marcedes Lewis has been elevated from the practice squad ahead of the Week 9 matchup against the Houston Texans. Lewis joined the practice squad earlier in the week and is now on the active roster a few days later. The Broncos are banged up at tight end and could use another body for this weekend. The 41-year-old is unlikely to do much in terms of receiving as he hasn't hauled in more than six receptions in a single season since 2022. Lewis figures to be mainly a blocking option, so he'll be off the fantasy radar.

Marcedes Lewis Joins Broncos Practice Squad

41-year-old tight end Marcedes Lewis is joining the Denver Broncos' practice squad, marking the start of his 21st NFL season. Lewis could play for his fourth team in his career, and with Nate Adkins listed as questionable with a knee injury and Lucas Krull on injured reserve, there may be an opportunity for him to see snaps as a blocking tight end. While Lewis carries no fantasy value, it's still a remarkable story for the 2006 first-round pick to continue his career in 2025.

Marcedes Lewis Wants to Play One More Year

Veteran free-agent tight end Marcedes Lewis wants to play in 2025, and he expects it to be his final NFL season. The 41-year-old spent the last two seasons with the Chicago Bears following five seasons with the Green Bay Packers and 12 campaigns with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Originally a first-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft out of UCLA, Lewis has tallied 437 receptions for 5,115 yards and 40 touchdowns in 285 career games. He hasn't cracked 400 receiving yards since 2012, but he is one of the better blocking tight ends in the league. If he signs somewhere for a 20th NFL season, he will not be on the fantasy football radar. Either way, it's easy to root for the veteran who has been remarkably healthy late in his career.

Marcedes Lewis Re-Signs With Chicago

Free-agent tight end Marcedes Lewis agreed to a one-year deal with the Bears. The veteran, who will be entering his 19th NFL season, played for the Jaguars and Packers before spending last season with Chicago. However, he didn't do much for fantasy managers, amassing just four catches for 29 yards and a touchdown. With Cole Kmet and Gerald Everett on the roster, Lewis should continue to have a tough time getting involved, meaning he won't see much attention from fantasy managers heading into the 2024-25 campaign.

Marcedes Lewis Plans To Re-Sign With Chicago

According to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, free agent tight end Marcedes Lewis will visit with the Bears on Monday. If all goes according to plan, he will sign a new contract. The veteran has spent time with the Jaguars and Packers before spending 2023 with Chicago, where he amassed just four catches for 29 yards and a touchdown. This will be season No. 19 for Lewis, assuming he signs. However, the Bears have Cole Kmet and Gerald Everett on the roster, so Lewis isn't expected to find a spot on many fantasy rosters during the 2024-25 campaign.

Marcedes Lewis Signs With Bears

The Chicago Bears have signed tight end Marcedes Lewis to a one-year deal. Lewis is heading into his 18th season which will break a tie with Jason Witten and Tony Gonzalez for the most ever played by a tight end. The 39-year-old last played with the Green Bay Packers last season. He played a minimal role where he hauled in six receptions for 66 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games. The expectation is that he'll mainly be a depth option and a veteran presence in the locker room.

Marcedes Lewis Drawing Interest From Jets, Raiders

Free agent tight end Marcedes Lewis is rumored to be drawing interest from the New York Jets and Las Vegas Raiders during the legal tampering period of the 2023 free agency. Lewis could join Aaron Rodgers in New York if Rodgers finally decides to accept a trade there, but time will tell. After a 12-year career in Jacksonville, the 38-year-old tight end has spent the last five seasons with the Green Bay Packers. He has caught 57 of his 75 targets for 582 yards and six touchdowns during that span. He is primarily a blocking tight end, so he won't be on the fantasy radar no matter where he lands.

Packers Put Marcedes Lewis On COVID-19 List

The Green Bay Packers placed tight end Marcedes Lewis and linebacker Oren Burks on the Reserve/COVID-19 list on Tuesday. There's a chance they could both clear the league's COVID protocols by Sunday, but it remains to be seen if that will happen. Splitting time and targets with Josiah Deguara, Lewis hasn't become a fantasy relevant streamer at the weakest position despite the season-ending injury to Robert Tonyan earlier this year. Lewis has 23 catches (27 targets) for 214 scoreless yards in 15 games played. But if Lewis is out in Week 17 against the Minnesota Vikings, who have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points per game to the position in the last three weeks, Deguara would become a more attractive TE2.

Marcedes Lewis - Week 11 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Green Bay Packers tight end Marcedes Lewis faces the Minnesota Vikings in Week 11 after catching two passes for 10 yards in the Week 10 win over the Seattle Seahawks. He logged 57% of the offensive snaps last Sunday and is the Packers' primary tight end with Robert Tonyan (knee) out for the season. The Vikings have been stingy against opposing tight ends and have yet to surrender a touchdown to the position this season. Lewis is mainly used in blocking situations, and fantasy managers can search elsewhere for a TE streamer in Week 11.

Marcedes Lewis - Week 10 Outlook for Fantasy Football

Green Bay Packers tight end Marcedes Lewis was targeted once and caught one pass for minus-one yard in Sunday's 13-7 loss to the Chiefs. He led the Packers tight ends in offensive snaps (46%), out-snapping teammates Dominique Dafney (40%) and Josiah Deguara (24%). Lewis is Green Bay's primary tight end with Robert Tonyan (knee) out for the season. The 37-year-old owns only four percent of the team's targets and is in a timeshare with Dafney and Deguara. Fantasy managers can search elsewhere for a streaming tight end, as Lewis is a dart throw, at best, in Week 10 against the Seattle Seahawks.
