Marcus Murphy Rushes For 21 Yards In Second Preseason Game
Buffalo Bills running back Marcus Murphy carried the ball six times for 21 yards, good for 3.5 yards per carry, in the team's second preseason game against the Panthers. Murphy has been a journeyman running back since entering the league as a seventh-round pick of the Saints in 2015. He's suited up in 12 games for the Bills the past two years and has carried the ball 59 times for 291 yards. This year, the Bills have more depth in their backfield with the offseason additions of Frank Gore, Devin Singletary and T.J. Yeldon. Murphy will likely start the season on the team's practice squad and shouldn't be targeted in fantasy drafts.
The Buffalo Bills placed running back Marcus Murphy (elbow) on Injured Reserve after he dislocated his elbow in Week 15 against the Lions. Buffalo signed wide receiver Victor Bolden in a corresponding move. Murphy's run as the lead back with both LeSean McCoy and Chris Ivory inactive on Sunday was short-lived. Keith Ford replaced him as the top dog the rest of the way, but one of McCoy or Ivory should be able to play in Week 16 against the Patriots. Ford would be a desperation fantasy option at running back in championship week if McCoy and Ivory sit out their second straight game.
Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott said that running back Marcus Murphy (elbow) suffered a dislocated elbow in the Week 15 win over the Lions. It's unlikely that Murphy will be able to play in the final two games. He started on Sunday with both LeSean McCoy and Chris Ivory inactive, carrying the ball 11 times for just 35 yards before his injury. Keith Ford took over as the lead back once Murphy left. With one of McCoy or Ivory likely returning in Week 16 against the Patriots, Ford could return to backup duties. If not, Ford would be a deep sleeper in DFS and deeper leagues.
Buffalo Bills running back Marcus Murphy (arm) is unlikely to return to Sunday's game against the Lions. Murphy came off the field holding his elbow on his last carry of the second quarter. The rookie earned the first start of his career as LeSean McCoy (hamstring) and Chris Ivory (shoulder) are inactive for the game. The third-year pro garnered 35 yards on 11 carries in the game. Undrafted rookie Keith Ford, who had eight yards on two carries in the first half, will be counted on to carry the workload for the rest of the game.
Buffalo Bills running back Marcus Murphy was praised by offensive coordinator Brian Daboll on Thursday. "He's done everything right. He practices the right way and he plays the right way," Daboll said. Murphy is trying to slot in as the No. 4 tailback on the roster behind LeSean McCoy, Chris Ivory and Travaris Cadet. He is trying to hold off challengers Taiwan Jones and Keith Ford for the roster spot. For now, his fantasy value is rather non-existent, but he could factor in later down the road if injuries crop up in Buffalo. Don't draft him, but file the name away.
