Matt Barkley News

Matt Barkley Struggles In Relief

Buffalo Bills quarterback Matt Barkley struggled in relief of Josh Allen on Sunday, completing 18 of 35 passes for 232 yards and two interceptions in a 13-6 loss to the Jets. Barkley announced himself to Bills fans last year by trouncing the Jets when Allen was out with an injury. He didnt make the same impression today. Playing behind a back-up offensive line, Barkley held onto the ball too long at times, made some poor throws in the rain, and failed to capitalize on the Bills two red-zone trips. Hell remain a serviceable back-up come playoff time.

Matt Barkley To Be Bills Backup Quarterback Going Forward

Buffalo Bills quarterback Matt Barkley signed a two-year contract extension on Friday. The transaction essentially stabilizes the team's quarterback situation going forward as the 28-year-old will remain Josh Allen's backup and mentor. Barkley, who signed with the Bills on Oct. 31, was lauded by coach Sean McDermott this week for his support of Allen. He has appeared in one game for the Bills, completing 15 of 25 passes for 232 yards and two touchdowns in a 41-10 Week 10 victory over the Jets. The sixth-year veteran has appeared in 12 games in his career and has posted a 2-6 record in eight starts.

Matt Barkley Performs Well In First Start

Buffalo Bills quarterback Matt Barkley led the team to a dominating win over the New York Jets on Sunday. Barkley is the Bills fourth quarterback this season and was replacing the injured Josh Allen and Derek Anderson. On Sunday he went 15-for-25 for 232 yards and two touchdowns. Its also worth noting the Bills quarterback didnt throw a single interception, which is a welcomed sign in Buffalo at this point. Barkley apparently found the winning formula, which appears to be to play a subpar defense and limit the targets to Kelvin Benjamin. Barkley is a feel good story, but we would expect Josh Allen to regain his starting role after the bye week. So, avoid the temptation of adding Barkley off the waivers.
