Mike Strachan's Time In Indy Could Be In Jeopardy

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Mike Strachan's time in Indy could be in jeopardy while not playing a big role on special teams in his first two NFL seasons. Strachan entered the league with high expectations. The 6-foot-5 seventh-round pick in 2021 made two catches in his NFL debut but has only made three since. He was inactive four times in 2022 and just hasn't been a factor in the passing attack. Keeping his spot on the active roster won't be easy. The Colts already have Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce and Ashton Dulin, and they also added speedy slot receiver Josh Downs in this year's draft. Isaiah McKenzie was brought in through free agency. Strachan will need to have a strong training camp and preseason in order to stick around in 2023.

Mike Strachan Could Play More In Week 2

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Mike Strachan could see an increased workload during their upcoming matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Colts are going to need all the help they can get with Michael Pittman Jr. (quad) sidelined. Last week, Strachan hauled in both of his targets for 36 yards in the tie with the Houston Texans. The expectation is that Strachan will see more targets without Pittman available. However, Parris Campbell is a much better option if fantasy managers are looking for streaming options. Strachan is a desperation deep league option for Week 2.

Mike Strachan Activated From PUP List

The Indianapolis Colts activated wide receiver Mike Strachan (knee) from the Physically Unable to Perform list on Monday. Strachan began training camp on the PUP list after having offseason knee surgery, but the Colts will now start working him into practices. In his rookie season, the seventh-round pick caught only two of his three targets for 26 yards in six games for Indy, but he'll be looking for a bigger role as a depth option for the Colts, behind the likes of Michael Pittman Jr., Parris Campbell and rookie Alec Pierce. Strachan will be competing with Dezmon Patmon and Ashton Dulin for the fourth receiver spot in Indy to begin the 2022 season.

Mike Strachan Likely To Return By End Of Training Camp

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Mike Strachan (knee) underwent knee surgery this summer. The expectation is that he will be able to return to the field by the end of training camp. The 24-year-old was a seventh round pick of the team in 2021. He only suited up for six games last year and caught two of his three targets for 26 yards. The Colts have one of the thinnest receiving corps in the NFL with very few enticing assets apart from No. 1 wideout Michael Pittman Jr. Strachan has an opportunity to see snaps this coming season if he can come back strong from his injury.

Mike Strachan Expected To Miss Start Of Camp

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Mike Strachan (undisclosed) is currently dealing with an unknown injury. As a result, he's expected to miss the start of camp while working his way back to full strength. The 24-year-old played sparingly in 2021, his rookie season, totaling just two catches for 26 yards. He will have work to do once he's ready to report. However, based on what Strachan does during camp, he has a chance to earn meaningful snaps in 2022-23, although currently, he is still far from being relevant on the fantasy end.

Mike Strachan Draws Seven Targets in Preseason Finale

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Mike Strachan drew the most targets (7) amongst all Colts receivers and backs during Friday's 27-17 preseason finale win over the Detroit Lions. Despite being held without a touchdown, the rookie wideout caught five of his seven targets for 61 yards. He's 6'5", 224 pounds, and a physically dominant wideout that could completely change the way opposing defenses scheme coverage. Drafted in the seventh round out of Charleston, Strachan has been a favorite target for all Colts backup quarterbacks throughout the preseason and could earn a role in certain formations with Carson Wentz and the first team in 2021.

Mike Strachan Impressing In Colts Camp

Indianapolis Colts rookie wide receiver Mike Strachan has reportedly been impressing the team during preseason practices, including drawing praise from Colts cornerback Xavier Rhodes. Strachan -- a seventh-round pick out of Charleston -- saw some first team reps on Tuesday because Parris Campbell was out with illness. Strachan is a big receiver who can create mismatches on the outside, but even with his impressive showing, cracking the Colts rotation at wideout is tough. In addition to Campbell, there's Michael Pittman Jr., T.Y. Hilton, and Zach Pascal to contend with. Strachan is more of a dynasty stash than he is a redraft option at this point.

Colts Intrigued By Kylen Granson, Mike Strachan

The Indianapolis Colts are intrigued by the first impressions that rookie tight end Kylen Granson (fourth-round pick) and rookie wide receiver Mike Strachan (seventh round) gave them during offseason practices. Granson is the more likely of the two to play early on in 2021 because he offers a different skill set than Jack Doyle and Mo Alie-Cox. The Colts view Granson in a similar role that Trey Burton played last year. Strachan has impressed with his mental acumen, but he remains more of a long shot to contribute in Year 1. Although Granson lacks ideal size, his after-the-catch ability is what intrigues the Colts the most. Indy's tight end position figures to be another committee approach this year, which gives Doyle and Alie-Cox low fantasy ceilings, but Granson is a name to file away.

Colts Draft Mike Strachan

With the first pick of the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Indianapolis Colts have drafted Charleston wide receiver Mike Strachan. He had 27 touchdowns in his two seasons as a starter with the team, but it's always hard to know how a Division II player will adjust to the NFL. He's got a lot of work to do, but he's a strong athlete with some exceptional speed who could one day contribute in the NFL.
