Free-agent quarterback Nick Foles has officially announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday. The Super Bowl-winning backup quarterback was still searching for a new team this offseason but has decided to step away from the game instead. In 11 seasons, Foles appeared in 71 games while starting in 56 of them. He posted 14,227 yards 82 touchdowns, and 47 interceptions with a completion percentage of 62.4%. His playoff run in 2017 will go down in Philadelphia lore as one of the best runs in football when he threw six touchdowns to one interception and 971 yards in three games. On top of that, he won a Super Bowl MVP against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
Former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles officially announced his retirement on Thursday on his Instagram account. Foles entered the NFL as a third-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2012 out of Arizona and went on to play in 11 seasons in the league before hanging up his cleats. He hadn't played since the 2022 campaign, when he appeared in three games (two starts) with the Indianapolis Colts. The 35-year-old signal-caller made his lone Pro Bowl in his second year with Philly in 2013. He'll be remembered most for taking down Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII to give the Eagles their first Super Bowl title in franchise history. Foles wraps up his NFL career with 14,227 passing yards, 82 touchdowns and 47 interceptions in 71 regular-season games (58 starts).
Free-agent quarterback Nick Foles was released by the Indianapolis Colts on Friday. But the signal-caller didn't seem too upset about it. "It's OK. The coach that I was there for, Frank Reich, was fired," stated Foles during a church event in California. "Shoot, almost every year of my career I've almost retired. Every offseason, I think, 'Do I still want to play?' Specifically, this last year with everything." The 34-year-old has played for six teams since entering the league in 2012. During his career, he's thrown for 14,227 passing yards, 82 touchdowns, and 42 picks while completing 62.4% of his throws. He also made the Pro Bowl in 2013 and led the Eagles to a win over the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII. Of course, Foles' best days are likely behind him, so he probably won't have much fantasy value this season, even if he ends up starting somewhere.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Nick Foles has been released by the organization on Friday. The veteran didn't have much a role on the team last season. He finished with 224 yards, no touchdowns, and four interceptions in two games with the Colts this past season. The former Super Bowl MVP hasn't done much since winning it all with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018. The Colts have Gardner Minshew and first-round pick Anthony Richardson, so there was little need for Foles to be on the roster. Possibly, he can find a backup spot elsewhere, but the 11-year veteran doesn't have much left to prove.
Sam Ehlinger To Start Against Texans, Nick Foles Ruled Out
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Nick Foles (ribs) will not play against the Houston Texans in Week 18. Interim head coach Jeff Saturday said Foles is still sore after taking a brutal hit against the New York Giants in the Week 17 loss. Sam Ehlinger will make his third start of the season, with Matt Ryan serving as his backup. Ehlinger has completed 41 of his 66 passing attempts for 364 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. He remains off the fantasy radar in single-QB leagues in Week 18.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Nick Foles (rib) has been ruled out for the remainder of Week 17 against the New York Giants. He exited in the second quarter after a big hit that left him on the ground in agony. The veteran had gone 8-for-13 with 81 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception before departing. Sam Ehlinger will take over at quarterback for the remainder of Sunday's contest.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Nick Foles (rib) is questionable to return against the New York Giants in Week 17. He exited in the second quarter after a big hit that left him on the ground in agony. Indianapolis Colts interim head coach Jeff Saturday said that quarterback Nick Foles will remain the starter under center for the Week 17 game against the New York Giants. The Colts benched Matt Ryan for the second time this year in favor of Foles for the Monday night game against the Los Angeles Chargers, and it netted them just three points in a 20-3 loss. Foles finished 17-for-29 for 143 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions against the Chargers. The 33-year-old also took seven sacks. It will be hard for Foles to be much worse in Week 17, but he'll be facing a very solid defense. We wouldn't recommend starting him in fantasy lineups, even in two-QB leagues with a fantasy title on the line this weekend.
Indianapolis Colts quarterback Nick Foles will make his second consecutive start this season after Matt Ryan got benched. However, his performance was a nightmare because he only completed 58.6 percent of his passes and threw three interceptions against a Los Angeles Chargers defense that generated pressure all game, resulting in seven sacks. Foles will deal with the Atlanta Falcons in Week 17, and he may deliver a better performance than the previous week. The Falcons have allowed the seventh-most passing yards per game (239.5) and are tied for the sixth-most passing touchdowns allowed with 23. They are also tied for the fifth-fewest interceptions with 10 and are tied for the fourth-worst pass-rush win rate at 35 percent. Still, it's not that Foles will pick the Falcons defense apart with a head-turning performance. That said, keep him as a last resort if you are looking for a starting quarterback.
